Sorry but one more question for the brains trust.
I purchased 2023 upgrade maps from Australian company on SD. It loaded onto the Zumo without problems. Can these be uploaded to Mapsource or must I buy from Garmin and use Express?
Supported?
Re: Supported?
You need to use Express to install the map to your PC. What are the maps you've bought? Are they original Garmin ones or pirated copies?
Re: Supported?
That won't work. MapInstall allows you to send certain maps on your computer to your device, not the other way around.

Re: Supported?
I don't think maps purchased on an SD card can be installed on a computer or transferred to other storage media. At least, current Garmin maps on SDcard cannot. You should be able to use them in Basecamp with the Zumo connected via USB, or possibly by putting the SDcard in the computer. I don't know about using MapSource - before my time.

Re: Supported?
Just to confirm MapSource cannot read maps from a device or any other memory, eg sd card

Re: Supported?
All clear now. Thanks for the advice.
The SD card I purchase on line may have come from a questionable seller, but it does works on the Zumo, so that is the main thing I suppose.
Looks like I am going to have to use Basecamp. I don't think it is near as good as MapSource for plotting trips but that's life.
Shame the new XT2 are so expensive.

Re: Supported?
You LEGEND. That worked a treat. I found it to be very similar to MapSource, so no too hard to pick up. Thank you very much for your help.

Re: Supported?
Couple things to say,
I also loved using the Mapsource program on my PC but since using BaseCamp I don't want to return to Mapsource, and my recent 550 NA map update to 2024.20 NA maps showed a problem with the Zumo 550 displaying street names with dots, so now I have 3 choices,
#1 live with the 550 displaying street names with dots.
#2 revert back to an older NA map version for the 550 for street names, or
#3 buy a new Zumo XT2 GPS and cradle for my bike, but I don't travel that much anymore to justify purchasing a new unit.
I'd rather pick either #1 or #2
any suggestions welcome
