New version

Post by sussamb »

Minor update to BaseCamp, apparently to allow it to work with some newer devices, no change in functionality as there is no further development of BaseCamp

BaseCamp software version 4.7.5
as of March 27, 2023

Download (61.93 MB) here https://www8.garmin.com/support/downloa ... 5#Instruct

Notes:
System Requirements:
Windows 7 SP1 or later is required. Machines with earlier operating systems can use BaseCamp 4.2.5.
.NET framework 4.6 is required. A current version of .NET will be installed if needed.
1 GB of system memory is required, 2 GB of system memory is recommended when using BirdsEye Imagery or Garmin Custom Maps.
A video card that supports OpenGL version 1.3 or later is needed to enable the 3D view.
If you experience problems when interacting with the map views, please make sure that you have installed current video card drivers.
BaseCamp will recognize all MapSource products except BlueChart.
BaseCamp does not work with serial GPS devices.

I wonder if this minor fix is to cure the major issue that we have been experiencing.

eg routes transferred from Basecamp get wiped at the next transfer.
Routes transferred from Basecamp have the names of route points changed
Routes transferred from Basecamp are prone to get stuck in a RUT. Routes created on the XT using the same points, are not.

I will be looking at this with some interest, and I will make sure I keep my previous installation files to compare.

Thanks @Stu Fingers crossed.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

The new XT2 info says that it does not connect to Basecamp, so I doubt it !

I'll see if I can find where I read it.

Garmin Automotive Devices

zumo XT2

To view and share your data, use the Garmin Tread App. BaseCamp will display "Unsupported Device Connected".

Apparently, (I don't know), the message appears and then it connects. But what it does with the data when you try to send it from BC, I wouldn't know. Nor do I want to find out.
