New maps for mapsource from Zumo XT

I've used mapsource for years and loved it! Tried basecamp (yuck) and several others over the years. Furkot is not bad, but always have trouble with the routes when transferring to Zumo XT due to the differences in the maps.

I would like to go back to mapsource. I have a new windows 11 pro laptop and have been able to install mapsource 6.10.2 with city navigator v4.01, then the update to city navigator v8 and have that unlocked.

I was hoping I could plug in my XT and download the maps from it so mapsource and the device would have the same source, but mapsource would not recognize the XT was connected, even when it showed in windows explorer.

So I installed Garmin Express. I was able to connect to the XT through there and download the maps to the computer, but I think it put them in a different location than where mapsource is looking.

Not sure what my next step should be? Could anyone help please?

MapSource can only work with devices in mass storage mode. Many Garmin devices are by default MTP mode but can be switched to mass storage, but the XT isn't one of them so can't work with MapSource. You could of course download the map to a sd card and insert that into your XT.

Using Garmin Express, I downloaded City_Navigator_North_America_NT_2023_10.gmap and it resides in c:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps:

but I cannot see it in MapSource.

My question is how to get MapSource to be able to open this map set?

Not sure if I can help, I only have the European map.

How does the folder look when you open it? The Info.XML file should be there, and in the Product1 subfolder you should see a lot of subfolders.

What is you Mapsource version? I have 6.15.6 and that opens the map if it's in the programdata folder.

I was wondering if editing regedit or moving the location of the gmap file would help?

What is javawa & how would it help?

If you've used Express to install the map to your computer both BaseCamp and MapSource should see it as its installed to the location they both use. Moving it won't help as it's in the correct folder. Its possible the download corrupted so uninstall it then use Express to reinstall it.

Also your MapSource version is an old one, see if updating it helps https://www8.garmin.com/support/downloa ... jsp?id=209

With that map selected click on info, what do you see?

Try though updating MapSource as that is likely the issue. Your version is a very old one so could struggle with modern maps
