I am anxious to hear how the map update goes with GE 7.16.0, both on the device and to the computer.

Downloading now to my 660. Will report back. Note that the previous version semi-bricked my 660, so hoping this fixes it. Will be able to try on an XT next week.

No luck fixing the problem with my 660. The new map refuses to include Canada or Mexico, despite the full CN NA being on there previously. There is plenty of room, with a 32 GB SD card installed. It works fine in Basecamp, showing full detail for North America, not just the US.

On the XT there is a way to turn off Canada and Mexico. It is in Settings > Map & Vehicle > myMaps. Wonder if that exists on the 660.

Good thought, but no such choice on the 660. My map info says "All US" which is less than it should be.

That is a shame. When you get your XT it will list Canada & Mexico as a separate map from All US, like this:

Express wanted to update to 7.16.1.0, and that went OK.

CN NA 2024.10 installed on the XT without issue until it attempted the install on the PC for Basecamp. Express showed a big red bar at the top "Map changes failed." Tried again to install on the computer - immediate failure.

I've seen and fixed this before, so broke out the 590. Map on 590 updated just fine, cannot install 2024.10 on the PC.

Uninstalled Express 7.16.1.0, and re-installed 7.15 which has worked in the past. Same results, changes failed.

Pulled the travel netbook out of the cabinet, refused the Express update so still on version 7.15.2.0. Same results with both Zumos, cannot install to PC.

Just once I'd like a Garmin update to work smoothly, with no glitches, on the first attempt.

Snow and ice are on the roads so I'm not riding any time soon, but OpenStreetMap is looking pretty good right now.

EDIT: Garmin is aware of the problem, caused by the new maps, not Express. See https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software ... 55#1565355

Apparently they fixed the problem with the map. I just successfully installed CNNA 2024.10 to my desktop PC using Express 7.15.0.0. and to my netbook using Express 7.16.1.0.

Express no longer provides an option to install the map to a different location. Before, it offered the option and ignored your preference, but it was nice to be asked. It's a struggle to keep enough room free to install the map on the netbook and then move it to the D: drive. Sometimes have to move stuff to D: temporarily, install the map, move it, clean up the extra copies and then move the C: files back where they belong.

I am currently having success as well. Will update when it's done.
