"H" keyboard command

I've never seen this mentioned, so am I the only one having trouble activating the Pan tool in Basecamp with the keyboard? Pressing the H key seems to be recognized only about half of the time. Using Shift or Caps Lock does not help. It's been a persistent problem for me at least six years, on five or more computers running at least six versions of Windows.

It works just often enough that I still always try the keyboard command, but I get a bit frustrated when it does not work and I have to revert to the mouse.

I have experienced the problem, but it is rare. I can not duplicate it on demand nor have I been able to identify a specific cause. Do you normally have another programs running that has a specific purpose for the "H" key?

My experience is limited to Basecamp on the same Win10 laptop, usually just running Basecamp and Google Maps in either Vivaldi or FF.

I long ago gave up on keybd shortcuts in Base Camp and just use the tools I placed at the top.

There IS a condition under which the keystroke commands don't work and that is when one of the left panes is active. An example is if you place a waypoint on the map and then click on that waypoint in the lower left pane to edit it. At that point no map keystroke commands work until the map pane is made active. Moving the cursor back over the map is not enough, you must click on the map or one of the command icons. Of course you know that clicking on the map will create a waypoint if the waypoint command is active.

What I have since discovered is how easy it is for the map pane to lose focus. When you do anything outside of the map pane you might as well get in the habit of clicking the icon of whichever tool you want to use as part of your transition back to the map pane.

I learned long, long ago that when I was done with what I was doing to ALWAYS click the hand icon/tool before doing anything else. Always, do it without fail. It has saved me much annoyance over the yrs.

Well, I thought I responded last evening, but apparently I once again forgot to actually Submit my reply.

This is probably the source of my troubles. I do get tired of deleting waypoints inadvertently created when I only wanted to move the map. It does seem odd that clicking an icon is necessary before using a keyboard command. I can't think of another program that works this way, but Garmin does tend to be different. At least now I will know why the keys are not working.
