I was looking on amazon.ca and the 595LM has a shipping date of "1 to 2 months". Just wondering if this model is at end of life?

Any comments?

I hope not, I just purchased one. It came out in March of 2016.

There seems to be quite a few 600's still working, so end of life, I don't think so. Long delivery time might be more to do with Garmin being able to make more money from other products, and therefore prioritising their production lines?

I ordered a 595LM from gpscity.ca and it is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. Tried the 396 LMT-S and wasn't happy with it, so returning it to Amazon. Hopefully I will have better luck with the 595.

Why was you unhappy with the 396? Have you found the 595 better?

Hi Sprint;

I didn't like the fact that it has bluetooth only for audio. I bought a bluetooth dongle for my Goldwing and could get MP3's to play out the speakers, but not voice prompts.

The 595 has a larger screen and has jacks for audio out, audio in, mic, and it has a USB port you can plug your phone in to charge. I'm still working my way around the 595, but I think it is going to be an OK device.

Happy trails;
Gord

Thanks for the reply Gord.

My understanding was that the new 346 was more or less functionally the same as the 595, though clearly with the 595 you have dedicated hard cabling for audio in/out and mic rather than in the case of the 346 which is only via bluetooth.

However, I understood that it should still be able to do voice prompts via bluetooth, but you have found that not to be the case?

The 5" screen is certainly desirable, but here in the UK the 346 is around the £260 mark whilst the 595's are over £500 and it's difficult to justify that sort of markup.

Have you used the USB port from the 595 cable to charge anything? I can't get mine to work that way. With the gps in the cradle, when I plug my Android in it connects to the gps as a media device but it doesn't charge.
