I have a motorcycling buddy who is somewhat techno-challenged and so he will send me his zumo 660 so I can upload routes and waypoints for our upcoming 3000-mile trip. But I learned that his maps are quite out of date and my routes were created on CN NA 2023.10. He has lifetime maps, as do I.

I realize that someone could make this request to cheat or to work with a stolen GPS, so I'm not looking for any kind of hack. I just would like to know if there will be any problem connecting his GPS to my computer and doing a map update using Express. Will this mess up my account? Will it work?

I think that should work ok, by adding it to the Garmin(s) already in your Express.

It'll work, I've often done it for friends or family

Thank you, sir. Does it then prevent them from updating maps on their own computer in the future?

When complete, just remove the device from your Garmin Express. Then they can use their own computer.

Don't even need to do that. One device can be in Express on numerous PCs etc
