Garmin Express 7.6.0.0 is out and finally brings the option for Zumo XT to install maps on computer, if you have firmware 5.9 or newer.

Just got this email from Garmin;

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. Garmin Express version 7.6.0 has just been released for both Windows and Mac. Once you update to the latest version, you'll have the option to install the City Navigator maps to the computer. See FAQ Installing Maps to the Computer Using Garmin Express https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=y ... 1ydnSQZ2qA for steps to install the map."

nice, but ONLY if the XT is connected. Same is true for any updates, you can't see what the updates are unless the XT is connected.

@mzeist - You can still use a 'Fake-Zumo-XT' as described in my post on the 'Garmin Zumo XT' sub-forum...

It seems, that Garmin Express 7.6.0.0 is faulty, at least with Windows, as I can't test Mac. While you can install City Navigator on computer, maps are not being unlocked and BaseCamp will complain, that maps are not authenticated. This only happens with devices, which use this new map management, like Zumo XT or Montana 700 series.

Can anyone confirm?
All older devices, like Zumo 590/595 are not affected.

This "run as administrator" question could use further discussion. I have three users on my PC: Admin, Me, and TestUser. Best I can tell, for each user to be able to access installed maps in Basecamp they must each install the map to the PC while their user privilege has been temporarily elevated to Administrator. Starting GE with the "Run as administrator" doesn't seem to work.

That said, I have not been able get the maps unlocked for TestUser even after installing with admin privileges. Firstly, it doesn't make sense that map installation and locking are user specific. Secondly, I now suspect the TestUser lock problem is due to the GE 7.6.0.0 unlock issue but again, why the heck is map installation/unlocking specific to each PC user??? BTW, the trick of unlocking by copying the D6210120A.gma file from the device won't work for me because that file doesn't exist on the device. Perhaps that file is device or map specific? I have a zumoXT and the CN NA 2022.1 map.

Garmin Express 7.6.0.0. seems to have been pulled back because of his unlocking errors - at least on the german and on the us site of GE you get version 7.5.0.0. now, when you try to download it... :roll:

Same here in the UK - I have a case open with support at the moment.
