Garmin zumo xt crashes basecamp

Hi guys just purchased a garmin zumo xt, love the unit however it always crashes basecamp . It freezes and wont show maps, some times it shows part of the map then freezes again

Garmin support said there test units do the same and I should start using garmin explore.

I'm using basecamp 4.7.3. I have another 3 garmin devices that all work perfect within basecamp it's just the zumo.

I've tried re-installing base camp and tested on another computer, same issue

Any ideas ?

Are you installing the maps to your computer via Garmin express?

I have no issues with basecamp and my XT

No, I didn't know you could do that. I'm just reading the map from the device. Will give that a go.

Open express and find map options and install the map to computer

Working from the device is way too slow

Unless it's changed, you need to have downloaded the maps to your computer as well as to the Zumo. You can opt to do this at the same time as downloading them to the Zumo.

I found this answer on the garmin site. It was attributed to someone on this forum. On the XT go to the POI file and delete the cyclops file. It solved my basecamp crashing. Interesting thing is I have access to 2 XT's. One had the problem the other didn't.

I had the same problem with basecamp on my laptop running windows 10. I went into POI file and deleted all gpi files in the "Manual Deletion Method" for windows. Now everything works fine.

I didn't need to use the "POI Loader Deleting Method".

I have 3 totaling about 400mb

If you follow the link I provided it is self explanatory. I deleted 12 on my device.
