Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2

I tried it when I first got the controller, and when you assigned one thing to the short press, it also assigned it to the long press. Perhaps they have changed it since - the XT2 has had two upgrades since - one of them had something to do with the controller.turbo19 wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 5:14 pm "So if you programm the middle two buttons , the same function is also applied to the long press. So only 6 options can be programmed."
I think that that's not exactly like this @jfheath . That happens when you program the zoom on the center or external buttons, but If you don't program the zoom on any button, you can have 8 functions.
In case anyone doesn't need the manual zoom (it would be strange with the handlebar controller).
I'll check. Thank you.
Edit:
Yes - that behaviour has changed. It used to warn that setting the value for short press (for the + / - ) keys also changed the value for the long press - and vice versa.
Now it only does that if you set the +/- key to one of the zoom functions. If you remove the zoom function for (say) short press, it warns that the function for the long press button will be deleted. But then - you can set both short and long press to two separate things.
The reason that the same functionw as applied to both the long and the short press was that the long press was like giving a rapid sequence of presses - to zoom in or out quickly. But it was too fast and you had to be looking at it. I'd rather just press the same button twice or three times.
Thanks for pointing that out - I would never have tried to program 8 functions because I knew that it didn't work. I wish that they would say what they had done in their update logs - like they used to.
