Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
@proofresistant Yes, we must to ask for improvement.
Garmin wants to make BaseCamp (BC) impossible, has already started and is displaying a warning message of incompatibilty the BC with the new XT-XT3 and is pushing an online solution with the Tread app, but it doesn't work. Therefore, we have to ask either for the possibility of using BC or to bring Tread to a usable state - and that is far from it. There is no planner on the website, something like MRA or Kurviger.
Online planning would be great, but the current state is far from the reliability and comprehensiveness of BC

@proofresistant Yes, I can be serious, 'suboptimally' or not. You offer me advice and I would offer you some, very politely and respectfully; relax. There are some good to & fro results on here that get us rowing in the same direction.

Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
I don't think that this is the case. There are still plenty of users of Zumos prior to the XTs and other bits of hardware which are all supported by Basecamp. I believe that they have discontinued support and development - but the program is still available to download, and there are plenty of Zumo 590 series, 390 series, 340 series around that have grown up with Basecamp. Garmin have produced no other software for route planning for those devices. We have the software, they cannot delete it. I for one will continue to use it.
Basecamp displays a message that indicates that the Zumo is not officially supported in Basecamp. It does that for the XT2 - and has done for some time. It does not do it for the XT1, and it does not say that Basecamp routes are incompatible with the Zumos.Francis wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2026 10:30 am (It) has already started and is displaying a warning message of incompatibilty the BC with the new XT-XT3 and is pushing an online solution with the Tread app, but it doesn't work.
The issue is that the XT2/3 have features that Basecamp routes cannot access. Eg Michelin Scenic Roads, 4 levels of adventurous routing, Popular Paths (Moto), Michelin Scenic Roads, Bookmarked Great Rides, ....
But any route, track, waypoints can all be saved as a GPX file and the XTs can all read and process those.
If you ‘install’ gpx based routes using Trip Manager, and you do not allow the Zumo to synch with Tread / Drive then the Zumo XT and XT2 both behave perfectly. (I have no personal experience of XT3, but from what I have heard it seems likely).
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
That’s a misunderstanding.
I’m not saying it’s impossible. I’m saying that Garmin is pushing us toward online apps, but there’s no web app for PC, and the Tread app for Android has very limited features compared to BaseCamp.

Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
What I am posting, I believe, does have relevance to the latest Tread version - or at least its instructions since the XT3 was introduced (yes, it could also go on their pages) so bear with it.
On reading the Garmin Tread instructions pages online when looking at the Route Planner aspect, underneath what I was looking for was this:
"NOTE: If you have a zūmo® XT2 GPS navigator as the only device paired to the Tread app, the only vehicle profile shown will be Motorcycle. When using the zūmo® XT3 GPS navigator, you will have options for a Motorcycle and Full size profile."
Further reading indicates you can have car, side by side, user profile, maybe others. I think it was alluded to some time ago that because the XT2 Tread version only has motorcycle profile, it may recalculate your route built on other planning software to where it thinks a bike can fit and not be what you'd intended.
So, a change but maybe not what might work for some XT2 users.

The feature with vehicle profiles in the Tread app may be a new observation, but it’s not a new feature
For a long time, if not from the very beginning, the Tread app has used (supports) vehicle profiles, possibly multiple ones, if provided the paired device itself supports them.
If the Tread app itself only recognizes a paired zumo XT2, then it will accordingly have only this one possible zumo XT2 vehicle profile.
If the paired device supports different vehicle profiles, then those are simply supported as well.
When used with such a multiple profile device, the Tread app allows you to edit or even create vehicle profiles, depending on the device’s capabilities.
If you ultimately use a vehicle profile for a route that the device itself doesn’t recognize, the device will prompt you to recalculate the route with a corresponding message. By the way, vehicle profiles can, iff supported, also more or less synced.
Things get tricky for those who have a zumo XT2 navigation device and another device with different profiles. In that case, it is possible to transfer the zumo XT2 profile to the other navigation device, but that is a bit more involved and might be worth a separate discussion here.

Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
Well maybe you can decide as I'm getting tired of this and shall bow out as promised. Not all of us had the benefit of another 'Tread' device so your info there would have been relevant.

Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
Ok, I lied but back with good reason. iOS now on v3.00.14
Having very quickly flashed through a couple of earlier updates, I'm guessing Garmin quickly realised some faults. I have a route built in The Netherlands which for various reasons is a little tricky so use it as a Tread test. v3.00.11 lasted a very short time and would not very easily calculate without changing adventure settings. This new version seems slick and fast. I don't notice any setting or map changes but that is not to say there are none.
Should you edit the route, the box stating no more than 10 shaping points between stops still appears but the route calculates and can have route points added. Bizarre. This is only my fallback method as I much prefer routes copied to SD card prior to departure.
Edit; route loaded into XT2 where it calculates and runs. Multiple syncs both auto and forced with no change to the route.
Not sure which version is latest for Android and I realise other users may get different outcomes but awaiting results.

Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
I have loaded a track to the tread app. I have converted the track to a route and both are present in de XT2. If i start the route calculation of the route taken 10 minutes or more. Very dissapointed. If i try to start the route while not on the route, calculation is done directly to the end. What a waist of time
