@jfheath ,
Honestly, I don't think I'm the only one who, as has been mentioned many times in previous posts, mainly wants to use the Tread app to wirelessly transfer gpx content to the zumo XT2.
Other data such as “weather, traffic, up-ahead, fuel on route with prices” are of only marginal interest to me, if any.
(Weather only works for the past anyway, I don't have traffic on the small roads I travel on, and when I need to refuel, I usually use the gas stations that are already on the map when I'm on motorcycle tours).

The Tread app should only do what i (may some one else) need it to do.
  • My priority 1 – Transfer routes (wirelessly) to the navigation system.
Priority 2 – Share routes with other tour participants.
Priority 3 – Overview of routes.
Priority 4 – Edit (correct) routes, possibly also plan them.
Priority 0 – The other, sometimes rather questionable additional “features.”

jfheath wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 8:29 am But you have to transfer routes using the SD card or by USB cable. Best to store on the SD card with the XT2.
There is no question that using USB is currently the best and most reliable solution.
It's no surprise that I like TripManager so highly.
Nevertheless, I'm not giving up hope on “wireless” as the state of the art.
Yes, USB is undoubtedly the best option for routes. Tracks, on the other hand, can be sent wirelessly without any restrictions.

New Tread app version for Android,

          3.00.02 (2026.02.10), 34.42 Mb

          - 3D map now available in Tread app
          - available measuring tool in Tread app
-Some road restrictions have also been added, especially for off-roading.

I find it incredible how Garmin engineers spend their time developing useless nonsense

3D map is nice to check if route runs through the hills

Avoidances now can be accessed from the routing screen.

Any one any idea what "Avoid area C" is? Congestion charging??

          Hi,
Each update is worse than the last.
It's amazing that Garmin is focusing on this nonsense when there are problems with the same route being destroyed between the application and the XT2.
It won't be long before devices with Android, etc. integrated and full connectivity, at least with BMWs, start to appear, and that will be the end of this device.
We'll have to see what they come up with in the next evolution, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's even worse.
          Good luck to everyone.

I have Aoocci U6 for test: full Android 14, internal storage 64 GB, microSD slot, CarPlay/AndroidAuto, onboard cameras full HD front + rear, ...
It is rubbish. Every start is cold, 30 seconds. Can't do sounds fromoffline navi app in internal storage and CarPlay/AndroidAuto for messages/phone calls together. AndroidAuto drains phone S23Ultra battery (from 63% to 19% in 6.5 hours), won't last all day driving.

Only MyRoute App can handle both waypoints and shaping points, all others navi app has waypoints only or no waypoints.

Garmin XT/XT2, despite its flaws, is the king of long/moredays-trips navigators.
I be able with Garmin navigators, their vices seem like cute eccentricities to me. We know this from relationships with women, we would kill them once a month, but we love them anyway :-)

Of course, I don't want anything linked to a smartphone, which is why I'm still using the XT2. I'm talking about a device with integrated Android where you can insert a SIM card. It's the next evolution of these devices, which are completely independent.
I'm not interested in anything on the market today for that reason.
I'm just waiting for more advanced models, such as RiverNav 7 or similar devices.
I might even consider a 7/8-inch tablet with a controller for BMW, such as Carpe Iter or similar devices, which is another more advanced option than the XT2 and even better value for money.
Today, I still use the XT2 with wonder wheel control via an accessory that even Garmin has not been able to manufacture, which allows me to operate the XT2 without moving my hands from the handlebars. I have even loaded the XT2 and Basecamp with OpenTopoMap maps that are constantly updated, are navigable, and are much better than Garmin's own maps.
I've been using the XT2 for almost three years, spending more time on it than I would like, to the point of total dissatisfaction.
In order to use it properly, like most people, I have the Tread app disconnected (in terms of routes) from the XT2, and I have to create my routes with Waypoints in external planners and import them via an OTG pen drive from my smartphone to the XT2. If I'm travelling, I have no choice because I'm not going to carry a laptop for these things. In other words, something that the XT2 was designed to do, it is incapable of doing, and its low price, at least for me, is not worth it.
I disagree with Garmin, and I feel completely abandoned by them.
          Have a nice day
