Other tools are much better suited for beginners, even if you might have a negative experience or two.
Who, me ?!

See: https://tyre2navigate.com/ or go directly to https://tyre2navigate.com/download/
I clearly got the wrong link for Tyre. I'll give it another go - I did research quite a few different apps a while ago, but ignored Tyre - thinking that it was old software that I didn't like when it was very popular. Obviously wrong.

My Route App - I have a lifeime Gold Membership. I use it occasionally and it has been much improved over the last couple of years. But they still do not allow you to create your own POIs and have the system send those as Waypoints to the Zumo.

It's nice that they create tracks with each route, but they still fall foul of the RUT issue and the renaming of route points when Tread is Involved.
I know @Stu uses this extensively and likes it, but then go back to BC for the simplicity of editing.

This affects, more or less, all experienced users who recommend BC to beginners.

Tyre2Navigate has evolved over the years while managing to retain its original character.
It remains virtually unbeatable in its ability to store GPX or TomTom ITN files directly locally and make them available in the cloud (e.g., with OneDrive) and thus accessible anywhere.
Added to this is the powerful option of planning on Google Maps, even if the path there is somewhat “rocky.”

Tyre2Navigate, for example, can also handle its own POIs.
File > Convert to Tyre itinerary
or
File > Open > Garmin Files (*.gpi; *.gpx)

Hmmm, i think this is a general problem and also occurs with BC routes.
The Tread app has its advantages, but unfortunately also too many problems.
I only use tracks for verification purposes and am glad to have them on my device for safety's sake.
I also use BC in addition, because it is undeniably powerful and, after much trial and error, I have learned how to use it over time.

My work flow, which I have personally had good experiences with:
  • First, I create a route using the simplest, most intuitive tool possible, such as Tyre2Navigate.
  • Second, I avoid Explore synchronization of the Tread app or deactivate the Tread app entirely. (Even though I haven't given up hope on the Tread app and keep trying it, despite my frustration).
  • Third, I transfer routes and tracks (I haven't missed any POIs myself yet) with TripManager.
  • If necessary, but only then, I also use BC for additional support or correction or compare Routes or ... before transferring.

A request to everyone.
Try experimenting with transferring routes from other sources (MRA, Kurviger, RouteConverter, etc.) with TripManager.
I think it can't hurt to find out which sources are also supported by TripManager.
