Yup, got the new power cable.
Sorry FXwheels, I was away from the computer a few days, had dental surgery.
Ya I installed the new 396 power cable, and thanks to the wiring diagram for my bike model, found a switched power wire that feeds the left-front running lamp bulb, so I tapped the new power cable onto that switched wire using a posi-tap connector. So now my Zumo comes on when the ignition key is on, everything works great.
Thanks for the update twowheelstom. Keep us posted on how it'll behave.

I have been making very slow progress with my connection problem.

I spent some time last week making a new plug out of Milliput modelling clay and plan on using a hobby drill to make a cavity to house a set of pogo-pins to make the new contacts.

I make an interesting discovery, while trying to get the Milliput out of the connection cradle. There is a small magnet placed inside the cradle in the same corner as the release button.
I wonder if I connected a power cable to a computer and placed the Zumo in the cradle, would make the Zumo function as a charger (from the computer) rather than a computer connection?

QED I suppose.
