Mariannepm wrote: Thu Jun 06, 2024 12:25 pm Brilliant. Thanks a bunch. That definitely made sense once explained like that :-) Since you appear to know a lot more than me (not that difficult :D ...) would you know why my music keeps on coming on during trips? It looks like any type of notification would trigger the music to start playing from my phone library...I have a Zumo XT, Iphone and Cardo Packtalk Edge all connected to each other...
First thing to check: the XT needs to be the hub, meaning iPhone and Cardo paired to XT but NOT to each other.

Ah, now you are pushing your luck! And mine. I have never come across that issue, I guess your setup is slightly different from mine.

I have an XT, packtalk edge and an android phone. This has to be solvable though.

1. So How are your devices connected ?
Mine are connected like this.
Edge <=== (BT 2nd Phone)===> XT <=== (BT) ===> Phone

The Edge initial BT connection is unpaired / forgotten from the phone

2. Where does your music come from ? Mine comes from the Mp3 player on the Edge.
My early use of sound from phone to Zumo failed. sound breaking up frequently and then every second or so. I reckon that the phone gets interrupted by all of the BT devices in passing cars. Particularly since it works perfectly at my desk and when I first set off. After that, a dead loss.

FWIW, I have a Packtalk Bold an XT, and an iPhone. My experience with music on my phone is that the XT would automatically start playing it when the phone connected. I put the music on the XT's SD card instead. I then had to turn off (untick) the "Medio Audio" option in the XT Settings > Wireless Networks > My iPhone.

I thought I used to be able to scroll through the dates to see tracks from different days but it doesn't do that anymore. I have the Travel History turned on. I don't like using the "tracks" app cause it breaks the days tracks into many segments. Am I dreaming about the past or did I mess up a setting somewhere?
did you ever find a resolution to this ?? seeing the same, touch the date and its unresponsive for selecting previous days...
rode friday, sat, sunday, they all showed that day correct, but cant select them today... just shows 0 miles for today..

I'm sure I replied to this before - but I can't be bothered to go hunting - so if I did, here it is again.

I've never really looked at the 'Where I've Been' Option, to notice that it doesn't include all of your history.
But I just looked at my XT now and there is nothing in it.

However, if you go to Apps->Tracks - on that screen is one of those options that is hidden in plain sight: On the right there are two tabs. The bottom one looks like a calculator display. Tap it. That gives access to all of your riding history that is still stored on the XT1. It may be fragmented and it includes the trips up and down stairs when you had turned on your XT and had to go back for your phone.

They go back in time as far as the Active logs remain on the XT. They are stored in Internal Storage/GPX/CurrentTrackLog.gpx.

The last 20 archives of CurrentTrackLog.gpx are stored in numbered files - 1.gpx, 2.gpx, 3.gpx and so on. The XT keeps the last 20 of these, and then it deletes the oldest and uses the spcae for the next in the sequence. So you might have only 29.gpx through to 48.gpx. Just the last 20.

If you like to keep them, download them every now and then. How often depends on how much you ride. Have a look at what files are there every month or so - until you get an idea about how frequently you need to download them to make sure that you don't lose any. I used to download them every 2-3 months. But its not related to time on the XT1 - its related to the amount of riding.

I don't think that the calculator tab on the screen will peek into the archive - but I don't know. I've never noticed.

Not that if you delete travel history on the XT1 - or if you reset tour XT to factory condition - delete all settings and data - those files will be lost.

The GPX files can be uploaded to Basecamp and organised. BC has tools for joining tracks together - it uses the date and time inside the files to do this. It also has tools for analysing your ride - speed and elevation and looking at exactly where you were when you were crawling along at 10mph.

If you organise them properly into lists and folders and subfolders in BC - they are extremely useful for remembering those trips of a lifetime when you forget exactly where you went.

got ya... thanks so much for the look... at least its not just mine... probably no need for a factory reset to try to get dates back...
thanks for the information and the explanation on the rest, that's very helpful... the segments.... sigh... had like 58 from sunday alone... lol :)

my main goal was to see back a couple days for routes, and distance... like 528 friday, 375 saturday, and 430 sunday... just to check trip milage, since I didn't reset the trip data on the gps before "the trip" heh

thanks so much again, its a big help !!

If you have got that many segments - there may be another issue going on.

Did you go off route at any point ? The broken track log is one of the symptoms of RUT behaviour, and we can fix that. (Garmin can't, but we can !!)

some was off the route sites, restarting the route, and other things, i was winging it back home about 500 miles away... some segments seemed like a super short distance 0.1 miles or something... followed some to a waterfall, 2 miles total, probably 10 segments just for that short trip.. also there was off route, it recalculated some, but i went where i wanted looking at the track.. so that probably didn't help.. definitely not my typical use... track displayed and route 99% or 100% perfect is much more normal for my use...
don't recall what the other days looked like, and I have deleted the history and toggled the setting off and back on..

I have not tested this thoroughly, but I think a new segment starts every time the XT is powered on or wakes up. So if you stop frequently for gas, food, rest breaks, sightseeing, riding gear adjustments, etc. you can fill the Active Log capacity in just a day or two, regardless of distance. Save or off-load your travel history tracks daily if they are important to you.
