Until Tread is sorted out, then the Tread app on phone is not going to be allowed to store data in the Explore/Tread cloud. From all of my testing and evidence that I have sent to Garmin - it just changes the route. I use GPX files. Mainly Basecamp. But Basecamp isn't the issue because it does it if a gpx file is created using the Tread app and then loaded onto a friends XT2.

So I continue to use Basecamp.
I continue to put GPX files onto the SD card (because they get altered if they are in internal storage - last time I tested).
The XT2 gets and keeps the original route from the BC gpx.
The route is not altered - unless maybe if the XT2 recalculates it - but shaping points and via points are not moved drastically.
I take a copy of the route using the XT2 copy function - and that route behaves perfectly when navigating no matter what I do.

New Tread App version for Android:

2.11.23 (29 may 2025).

- New look of the collections menu
- If your android has large font, now WP and place names look bigger
- Now when you generate a route on the map, you have the option to "create loop from this location."
- Your Garmin account is now visible in the menu, and you can log out or open a different account.
- I'm getting a sync error (Tread App), even though just yesterday the previous version was syncing fine. One step forward, two steps back. Could someone confirm if it syncs properly with this version?
- ...

Does anyone know if there are any other "improvements"? ;)

It seems to be syncing items fine, but the sync error message keeps appearing on the Tread App screens.

The time and date of the last sync also don't appear in the Tread App (it does on the XT2). It seems to sync well and faster than before. Have you noticed that @jfheath ?

The latest version now shows the dimensions and units for distance and height in the Itinerary screen correctly. Previous versions showed the correct amount, but not the units. That is the route was 108 miles long, but the Itinerary screen would show it as 108 km.

I notice that the multiple selection of items in the favourites section was improved - different design and more responsive.

Then I went to check the creation of routes on the app on my ipad.

It still alters the route and moves shaping points if you change via points to shaping points.
It is not possible to re-order the shaping points
It still expects shaping points to be placed in the order of travel, not where an addition point may be needed.
If you re-order Via points in a route, then all of the shaping points are deleted.

At a very basic level - eg if you have a route with start, end and 3 via points and with one or two shaping point in between, then the route is plotted OK. Previously the route prepared like this would be altered (shaping points moved onto different roads) once the route had been synched.

But honestly, I stopped looking for any other improvements. It is still something that I cannot use for route planning.

I know how you feel, but I can get it to do almost what I want. The "but" is my having plenty of via points in there so it produces a route I like. Even then, if I have my laptop I'll route plan in Basecamp :o and then transfer the route.

As I've said before, one advantage of seeing what Tread does to a route means there's less surprises when you open the route in the XT2. If Garmin ever agree about the faster roads routing algorithm problem, and fix it, then that would negate one of its positives. Having Tread on my tablet allows me to tweak routes when I'm away on holiday, so don't have to take my laptop anymore.

I wanted to ask you if by chance using preconfigured waypoints instead "via points/shaping points" the route could be more deterministic?

Bye.
