Thanks guys for lots of info. I knew most of it. I just started this thread to tease out the pros and cons of using a custom activity profile in Basecamp. It was solely about Basecamp due to being surprised that Basecamp could recalculate a shared route differently. We routinely experience different routes on our satnavs but now wonder how many of them were changed by Basecamp before the satnav had a chance to apply its own algorithm. Sharing a route and its track is the key although important to again mention that transmission of a track with the route is not a necessity, only that a track get created from the shared route before a recalculation is done.
