Just to say I got one of Yohammer's replacements and fitted it. Not a difficult job, and solves the problem.

Hi, tried to contact you via email provided, but no response. Are you still able to help with failed zumo power button?

is the rubber cover over the button & power/charging glued down or is mine stuck to the plastic due to wear/heat, etc? Also I was able to remove 9 hex screws plus the phillips holding the cover for the power plug but what type of heads are the 4 screws around the battery under that cover?
thanks!!!

The little rubber "door" over the USB port is held on with one screw, as you've discovered. Rest of the cover is stuck on with some sort of glue/black silicone/whatever. If you're replacing it, you just need to pick it off bit by bit. As far as I remember there are no screws under it, if that's what you are looking for. The 4 screws in the battery compartment are Torx. I don't know what size, other than they are smaller than T5.

Ok it sounds like the rubber pad will get destroyed taking off. I bought a set of all types of very small precision “screwdriver set” starting w T1-T20 but none seem to fit. None of my “camera repair” kit tools work either.
BTW, Do you sell or know where to buy those rubber pads?
Thanks, Paul

Yes, the rubber pad is destroyed when removing - only way to do it, paul. Hmmm.... maybe the tiny screws aren't Torx after all then - they looked like they were to me, but .....

The rubber pad for mine I got from the guy mentioned earlier in the thread. He's in Holland. Pad from him was absolutely perfect, and easy to fit. Try emailing him on hanshamer@ziggo.nl.

You can also buy a half-sized part of the pad, but a little harder to make fit perfectly:

Or just the button (easy fix, but not 100% convince it's waterproof):

OK, thanks for the info but if I gotta send for that half pad or button to Europe, I think I'll do without it - or just plug the hole & let it turn on when its connected to power. Obviously with no parts available thru Garmin or otherwise, they prefer to sell a new GPS. Thanks again
