Hi Folks,
Long term Garmin user here and have just upgraded from a Zumo 590LMT to a Zumo XT3. I've set measurement to be in UK imperial for miles and MPG but would like temperature to be displayed in Celsius, is there a way to do this please?
Thanks in advance.
Display in Celcius
Re: Display in Celcius
I live in the Netherlands, so I have Kms and Celcius. These settings come from the initial prompt after a 'full reset', when the unit asks you for a 'Locale'.
I dont know how to change the temperature after the initial setup.
But I DO know how to change Kms to Miles, after 'Netherlands' was chosen in the initial setup. Go to Settings/System and select Units and set it to 'Miles'. That would be as you like it, but I'm unsure if I should advise you to do it like that...
Basically this is how it could be done:
- It would require a 'full reset', by going into the hidden menu and selecting 'Clear all user data', and setting the Locale to 'Netherlands' or any country that has Celcius.
- After that set your language to English and the units to Miles.
BUT BE WARE:
- It will effectively wipe out all routes/tracks and waypoints, so you need to back them up first.
- I have really no idea what other settings are also involved, that might not be as you like them.
- If you have the Tread App connected, it could be that you need to review those settings also.

On the XT2, The facility to change the locale is available in the ‘configuration and settings’ menu on the hidden system diagnostic page.
To access that, long press the circular Speedo (10 seconds) after tapping the speed indicator on the map.
It may well be the same on the XT3. I don’t know.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Display in Celcius
It still is that way on the XT3. But unfortunately using that method did not change Fahrenheit to Celcius, or vice-versa. To accomplish that I had to clear the user data.jfheath wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2026 7:29 am On the XT2, The facility to change the locale is available in the ‘configuration and settings’ menu on the hidden system diagnostic page.
