Re: Tread app "Enabling Storage" automatically
@technoguppy thank you for that though I keep Tread active. I was just wondering if something had changed and you could now sync a route without enabling the Expore Cloud ie. via Bluetooth only. That would fix it for those who have their routes changed by Tread.
I’m also a little confused as to what the latest software allows but don’t want to reset and start all over again as my system seems to work.

I'd certainly like it to work as it used to, but had to reset my XT2 and that seemed to open Pandoras boxRegain wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 6:11 pm I’m also a little confused as to what the latest software allows but don’t want to reset and start all over again as my system seems to work.

Maybe this from other post will help here:Oop North John wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 7:11 pmI'd certainly like it to work as it used to, but had to reset my XT2 and that seemed to open Pandoras boxRegain wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 6:11 pm I’m also a little confused as to what the latest software allows but don’t want to reset and start all over again as my system seems to work.![]()
"What I meant was that, once you've followed the steps you mentioned—resetting the XT2 and uninstalling the Tread app—you have to remove the XT2 from the phone's Bluetooth list. Otherwise, when you reinstall it, the synchronization will automatically activate because the connection between the two is already saved on the phone (list of paired Bluetooth devices).
I realized that by having to do it to test different versions of Tread app.
This was just a heads-up to prevent anyone from going crazy installing Tread and having it automatically sync without the app giving them the option to disable it. It's necessary to remove the pairing from your smartphone's Bluetooth list."

Re: Tread app "Enabling Storage" automatically
Does anyone know the answer to my earlier question? If you reset everything and start again and do not enable explore cloud, can you then still sync a route from Tread via Bluetooth to your XT2?
Remember, syncing happens via data or Bluetooth so it seems a possibility (at least in my head). It would just mean your routes would never reach the cloud and only move between MRA/Basecamp/Whatever - Tread - XT2.
I might be muddying the water here. The best option would be a tickbox in either Tread or the XT2 to enable/disable sync for individual routes.

Without sync enabled (or cloud storage).
You cannot send GPX's wirelessly to the XT2.

Re: Tread app "Enabling Storage" automatically
@Lanso that’s also the way I have understood it. However, given all the recent updates, I thought it might be worth a try. Nothing ventured…..
Re: Tread app "Enabling Storage" automatically
The trick to enjoying your Garmin product is to keep expectations as low as humanly possible.
Silliness aside, it's a dire situation. We've all pretty much stopped hoping for a fix.
I'd say it's my last Garmin, but there's no proper alternatives.
-TomTom stopped making navigations years ago. (the tomtom 550 is ancient)
-BMW's Connected Ride is a good alternative, but limited to BMW motorcycles. extremely expensive for little features. I can't even show your own speed or show speed camera's.
-Smartphones & carplay/androidauto mirrors are somewhat workable.

Re: Tread app "Enabling Storage" automatically
I keep saying it and I'm not sure if many believe me but I seem to get my XT2 to do what I need and with Tread fully fired up and syncing. The first few days (ok, weeks) after owning it, it was very frustrating trying to build routes that stayed in the XT2 as planned. I was ready to return it as defective. But, many hours of playing around with MRA, Tread and the XT2, listening to the likes of @jfheath and others has given me an understanding of how to make it work without routes being destroyed.
I'd still be interested to know if Bluetooth sycnc (without cloud) is a possibility from a new or reset user. Just to rule it out you know
