Zumo XT Green Dots Waypoints Everywhere??

Post by PaulaRay »

Just updated my my Zumo XT ver. 6.70 and Garmin maps City Navigator North America NT to 2026.3
Now I have green dots / waypoints on every city in the country (USA). It doesn't matter if the map is zoomed in/out, viewing the map only or using a downloaded route. I you have any idea how to get rid of these annoying green dots/waypoints, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks. Ray

Is there a setting that you can turn off the icons for certain things? For example, I recall having to turn off all the airport symbols bc they peppered the map with them.
In BaseCamp, these things can be turned off. Not sure how it works in the unit itself.

Thanks Iris, I just checked the entire tab bar including Settings, Preferences, etc. I couldn't find anything to turn off. While doing some Google searching earlier, I came across a few people mentioning Topo maps will do that but, I don't load those due to never using them. I have both of Garmins Topo & ioverlander un-checked in Garmin Express. I only saw a few people having this issue but, with no resolution. Thanks for the help, appreciate it. 👍

I do not think there is a way to turn off the green dots on the Zumo. I think they are the city halls or government offices of those communities, They do not bother me as they keep the same size on screen, effectively shrinking, as I zoom in. They are pretty much out of the way once I zoom in enough to read a street name. You never know when you will need to find a township office!

The dots that really annoy me are the black ones in Basecamp. You can't turn them off in the Activity profile, there a lot of them, and many indicate nothing useful. Click on them and they are shown as "unknown" or nothing at all - no address, no coordinates, no name, can't be made into a waypoint or added to a route. Just useless clutter.

Thanks for the help.... Yep, they're all either Cities or Townships.

Now... That made my day along with putting a smile on my face :D

Wow! That's crazy... That would definitely be annoying. That's right up there with not being able to place your routes / trips in sequential order on these Garmins. I remember way back in my Garmin 276C days & PC, everything worked / looked pretty much flawless in MapSource. I just may have to live with these green icons.... :( Now where is my Township office  Thanks again, appreciate it.

@PaulaRay, When I read your post I first wondered why you see the green dots and I don't. Then I fired up my XT. Now, not only do I see the green dots, but man, are they annoying. I won't be riding for awhile so I hope I'll go back to overlooking them by the time I do. ;)

Thanks.... Yes annoying they are. Hopefully there will be a workaround to get rid of these. So far, no luck. Ikraus sure has an issue as well with all those black dots. I'll keep pounding away to try to find a miracle for us but.... :? Thanks again, for jumping in.
