Re: Charging Complete
You will see that screen only if the XT is fully charged when you put it to sleep with external power applied. If it is not fully charged it says "Charging the Battery". Both messages will disappear after a few seconds.
The XT goes to sleep if you only tap the power button, or if you remove external power. Sleep mode turns off the screen but retains your position and route progress. Tap the button again, or re-apply power, to wake up the XT and continue the route.
Fully charged, the XT will draw about 2.44 mA in sleep mode - not a lot but enough to deplete a bike's battery over several weeks. I did not measure sleep mode current when the battery was still charging.
To actually turn off the XT completely, hold the power button until it asks for confirmation to turn off. Routes in progress will need to be restarted.

Re: Charging Complete
From memory, I don’t think that the XT1 will charge when it is turned off and is in a powered motorcycle mount.
I believe that message, and the similar charging message, pop up when the XT is charging from the usb cable and you have pressed the power button to turn it off. The screen goes black and a very dim ‘charging’ message appears. When fully charged, the message that you show appears.
So is a usb cable attached, and if so, is it plugged in to a charging outlet ?

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Charging Complete
I noticed this when I use a Garmin GTM 60 HD Digital Traffic Receiver. Although I have not verified this with a meter, it claims to output 5 volts at 2 amps.jfheath wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 7:59 am...So is a usb cable attached, and if so, is it plugged in to a charging outlet ?

Re: Charging Complete
That's not what I really intended to say, but I've confirmed that the XT does NOT show these messages when put to sleep in a powered motorcycle mount. They only appear when charging through the USB connection.Jim1348 wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 4:28 am So, if I understand what you are posting correctly, I will NEVER see this when it is in the motorcycle mount, correct?

Re: Charging Complete
So, now I am wondering if that means the Zumo XT never gets full charged in the powered motorcycle mount or if it does get fully charged, but just doesn't display the message.lkraus wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 3:10 pmThat's not what I really intended to say, but I've confirmed that the XT does NOT show these messages when put to sleep in a powered motorcycle mount. Re: Charging Complete
If that's your experience you should check the wiring on your bike. My XT gets charged best ON the bike.Jim1348 wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 3:27 pm So, now I am wondering if that means the Zumo XT never gets full charged in the powered motorcycle mount
Check the battery level in the 'hidden menu'.
- In the map view tap on the speed (Bottom-left)
- Long press the semi circle in top-middle (5-10 secs)
- Developer info
- Power Source (PSRC)
- If the 'Batt Volts' reads 4200mV or more it IS charged.
Re: Charging Complete
Thank you for sharing that. I did check and it shows Batt Volts 4172mV.FrankB wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 3:37 pmIf that's your experience you should check the wiring on your bike. My XT gets charged best ON the bike.

I have been using the procedure below and it shows:
Batt Capacity 100
Pressing and holding the battery icon on a Garmin Zumo XT for 15+ seconds opens a hidden diagnostic screen for battery capacity and health, while a quick tap on the status bar icon generally displays current charging status.
