XT2 locking up after GPX files transferred using Trip manager

Post by Fred D. »

Transferred 2 sets of GPX files (PA routes and Utah routes) to my Zumo XT2 using Trip manager. Transferred first set no problem routes opened up fine. After transferring the 2nd set of routes the GPS would freeze up trying to open any of the routes. Had to reset the Zumo. Tried again same result.
Used the Track to route program instead and it seems to work ok. Each GPX file needs to be sent separately so takes more time. BTW, no tread app installed. I'd prefer TM if anyone might have insight to this problem.

I can look into this if I you can provide the GPX files, and what you selected when you transferred the files. (If you are concerned about privacy send a PM)

I had to delete 3 routes in the Royal inn ride to accommodate the 8mb size limitation.

@Fred D.

I downloaded the files, and I can see a problem. You've created the GPX files with mapsource.

Code: Select all

<gpx xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1" creator="MapSource 6.16.3"
Currently TripManager does not handle GPX files created by Mapsource for use with the XT2 well. I will see if I can update TripManager to support that.

But having said that, I would recommend creating your routes with BaseCamp, as Mapsource has no notion of Via and Shaping points, and that is an important feature of the XT2.

Will keep you posted when I have an update on TripManager

The Utah file was given to me but the Royal Inn was routed on Basecamp but when I export the GPX files from Basecamp my default program was Mapsource. I can resend the files after making Basecamp my default if that's what labelled them as Mapsource?

I'm afraid making Basecamp will not do the trick.
Import the GPX files in BaseCamp, preferably in a new list folder. Next Export them as GPX

Meanwhile I was able to find the bug in TripManager and ifx it. I will send you a PM how to download that.

Frank

EDIT: A unwanted side-effect is that all route point will become VIA-Points in BaseCamp. Causing routes to split up when importing. To overcome that you need to set them to 'Dont alert on arrival'

Ok, Thank you. I'm only able to transfer the GPX files into memory card and then import them to routes with the XT2 which of course creates trip files within Zumo. Cannot get the GPX files converted to trip files with Trip Manager program.

I sent you a PM with a download link to the fixed TripManager.

As for sending your GPX as trips to the XT2 use method 5 described here:

Let me know how it goes

Hello @FrankB

I have now tested TM and BC routes extensively.
In the medium term, however, I will want to return to my favorite planning tool, “Tyre 2 Navigate”.
Should I also expect problems when using TM with “Tyre 2 Navigate” Routs?
What should I attention to, or what could lead to unexpected issues?
