I prefer to be presented with this prompt when I go off course. 95% of the time I answer with No. However, sometimes when I get back on course the Zumo quits giving me audible turn directions and does not show me my next turn. I'm uncertain the reason. The magenta line is still present and it still shows me progressing on the map.
Will the Zumo operate normally after it crosses the next SP or do I have to take some kind of action to get it to return to normal operation? On occasion I have stopped the route then restarted it using Closest Entry Point, but unless I pull over that requires several more clicks than I would like to make while moving.
After replying No to the off-course prompt, do you know what I can do to get the Zumo to return to normal operations?
I thank you in advance for your assistance.
Cheers

Re: "Off Course. Recalculate?"
What I suspect has happened is that while you were off route you missed a Via point. The XT will continue to show the magenta route line but has stopped providing navigation instructions. If this is the case, using the route point Skip function would resume normal operation but at the cost a recalculation of the remainder of the route. Since recalculation is a concern for you, I assume you have created the route in advance. In that case, using the trick of showing a track of the route on the map makes doing a Skip worth the risk because deviations resulting from the recalculation will be visible because you can see where the route line deviates from track line. You then have the options of either manually following the track line, or restarting the route, depending on the severity of the deviation, and your tolerance for manually following the track.

Re: "Off Course. Recalculate?"
That is correct.
If you go off course and you do not allow recalculation, all navigation help stops. It provides no visual prompts and it stops talking to you. Basically it goes into a sulk.
Navigation continues as normal when you rejoin the magenta line. If you have missed shaping points in the meantime, and you are heading in the correct direction, then normal routing will continue, prompts will work again and voice instructions will resume.
But if you have missed a via point, the Zumo will not start talking again until you visit the via point. The best solution in this case is to stop at the side of the road, stop the route, reload it and select ‘closest entry point’
A video example of this behaviour is shown here. Route goes one way to go through 3 shaping points. I take a shortcut and rejoin it without passing through any shaping points.

And here having ignored directions to turn right to visit a via point and then re-joining the route. But the satnav still wants me to go back and visit the Via point, so although I am on the route, it is still in a sulk

However
If you press skip, and your route has been imported from a gpx file, then the entire route recalculates and its behaviour in such situations will change. Missed route points are no longer an issue. If you ignore an instruction to visit one, it simply removes it from the route. That applies to via points and shaping points. It then calculates to the closest point of its route - usually just ahead, and continues from there.
I haven’t actually tested this with recalculation turned off, but since you have rejoined the route I expect it to do something similar, ie continue ahead without wanting you to go back. Normally, that situation after pressing skip will produces RUT behaviour if you deviate - but with recalc turned off, it cannot get stuck in a RUT
