My options are these. I checked it because I want the zumo not to recalculate, in fact when I transfer the path to the Zumo XT it doesn't recalculate.

Thanks very much, I send you an mp.

I tried to send the route to the SD card. There are no 2 routes with the same name in it, only one route. Then with the Zumo I imported it and also in the zumo there is only one route.
Can this help you?

I am revisiting this as I can't find the answer to one of the questioned asked. In the snips below you can see that I now have 2 different identical map files on on mt XT internal memory. I just finished updating the XT firmware and maps. I cycled power on the XT and now have 2 seemingly identical map sets. This is the first time I have ever seen this. Is this normal? Is it just filling up memory unnecessarily? And how do I delete one of them?

Click the other map and you will see that it has a different name than d9644110.img.

The two maps are not duplicates, they contain different data. One is the U.S., one is Canada & Mexico, together they make up North America.

The XT uses a FAT32 file system which restricts the maximum file size to 4Gb. The NA map was split this way several years ago when the maps grew too big to fit in one 4Gb file. If you install the map to your computer, it will likely be stored using a system that allows much larger files, and all of NA will be in one file.

I'll confirm this. The Maps pull-down menu in Basecamp will show one 2026.3 map but that map is indeed split into two files on the XT. I will never ride in Canada or Mexico so have that one unticked in my XT after being unable to find a way to remove that part of the map. I also unticked the TopoActive one for Middle America. I don't know whether there is any benefit to doing this but it seems harmless. Unfortunately, those choices are not maintained when the maps update.

What do you mean "unticked in my XT"? All I see is Settings/Map Layers/various choices, none of which are what I'm asking about. I guess my next question is:

If a section of map, like Mexico and Canada, can be "unticked", is there a way to omit them from updating? Or even preventing them from downloading in the first place?

In the XT settings... Map and Vehicle > MyMaps

Edit: I am not sure exactly what the untick does. Canada and Mexico are still visible on the XT map.

If there is, I have not found a way to do it.

No and no. Both parts will always be updated and downloaded.

If you go to Settings>Map & Vehicle>myMaps you can untick the Canada & Mexico map so that it is not used, but it will still be present on the XT. Unticking the map will not hide Canada and Mexico because there is still a base map which shows major features globally, but if you zoom in there are few details. You cannot use this global map for routing.

You could go to \zūmo XT\Internal Storage\.System\Map and delete the map file, but there is little point in doing that. It will be replaced during the next update, and the XT has plenty of storage. If you really need more storage, a (bigger) microSD card is a better solution.

My XT is only using half of the 32Gb internal storage, with all the standard Garmin maps. The 32GB microSD card currently holds about 14 Gb of music (1800 tracks, 128 hours), 7 Gb of extra OSM maps of the U.S., and it still has about 9 Gb free.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

You don't have to have a google drive account to be able to access files, IF, the shared links are setup with the proper security profile.
