No option to download maps to PC
No option to download maps to PC
I have successfully updated the Zumo XT with the latest 2026.30 maps, but I don't seem to be able to download the maps to my Laptop for use in Basecamp whilst not having the Zumo plugged in.
One used to be able to download a copy to the laptop before, but I don't see any option to do that anymore.
Has anyone resolved this issue?

Re: No option to download maps to PC
I found that you can actually do it using the "Manage Maps" option then under the "Computer" tab

Re: No option to download maps to PC
Thanks @Catmik . I had read about Garmin changing the way maps were installed to the PC in the newer versions of Garmin Express but had not actually seen how they implemented it until now (I've stayed on GE v7.24.0.0).Catmik wrote: Wed Oct 29, 2025 11:01 am I found that you can actually do it using the "Manage Maps" option then under the "Computer" tab

Re: No option to download maps to PC
I noted that behaviour recently. It seemed that the option to install to the PC did not appear until I had installed the maps on the Zumo first.
So I installed the maps onto the Zumo, did all of the restarting stuff, and then connected to Express again, and the option to install to the PC was there.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: No option to download maps to PC
That was what I was expecting, although when I installed the new maps, disconnected and reconnected I no longer saw the option. Like I showed above, in the "Manage Maps" option, if you select the "Computer" tab, you can now see an option to download to the PC.
I think this is new as I've never seen that before, but it might have always been there!

Re: No option to download maps to PC
I think this was changed in v7.26 based an an entry in its release notes. You post indicates that it was moved from Map Details > Options to Manage Maps > Computer tab.Catmik wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 2:30 pm I think this is new as I've never seen that before, but it might have always been there!
@Catmik, what version of Garmin Express are you running. I have held off on upgrading beyond 7.24 because it does everything I need it to do and I have not seen anything compelling in the release notes of subsequent versions that made me feel the need to upgrade.

Re: No option to download maps to PC
I run latest version of Garmin Express and own BMW Navigator VI and Garmin XT2.
Garmin XT2 does not show option to install map to PC, not even second time I connect but BMW Navigator VI does show option to install map to PC.
My guess it is not just a Garmin Express version which blocks the install to PC

Welcome to the forum @Jan_Veerhoek
Did you try installing the map to the Zumo first. I found that after I had done that, the option to install the map onto the PC became available.

Re: No option to download maps to PC
Yes, I did and second time no option to install on PC.
I installed 2026.3 to PC now with NAV VI connected.
No problem really and when NAV VI is sold there is still the option to manually install the mapupdate.
