Re: Garmin drive app to Garmin xt unit
I don't have an answer but since it has been awhile since I sent a route to my XT via Garmin Drive I just did it to refresh my memory on how it works. Upon the notice of send completion by Drive, my XT showed the sent route being calculated followed by confirmation that the trip had been received and added to Trip Planner. It indeed was listed as an imported route. I don't know for certain the source of the .gpx file I sent though. I suspect it was created in Basecamp, possibly from a riding buddy. Perhaps the calimoto file can't be calculated by the XT? Do you have another option for trying to get the route onto the XT, like using a PC?

Re: Garmin drive app to Garmin xt unit
The screen shot says it has received .temp_send_route. (note the fulls top at the end).
The Zumo XT isn't going to take any notice of that filename - it needs to have the gpx extension, so when you create or save the file in Calimoto it needs to have a file name that the Zumo XT can recognise. Filenames are a name, word or phrase, followed by a full stop, followed by (usually) three letters which are called an 'extension'.
I don't know Calimoto - it may add the gpx extension automatically in which case temp_send_route is a perfectly valid filename for you to enter. It will probably be sent to the XT with the default gpx extension as temp_send_route.gpx
Or you could add your own extension so that you call it temp_send_route.gpx - That will work
But if you add your own fullstop at the end without gpx after it, it will definitely not add the gpx extension.
The zumo will read only files that are something.gpx

FWIW, when I did my test, the Drive app stated "zūmo XT has received Pisgah covered br all asphalt." The actual filename of the transferred file was "Pisgah covered br all asphalt.gpx".

Re: Garmin drive app to Garmin xt unit
Hi all .I planned the route on calimoto app on an android phone.saved it to my rides.then sent it to Garmin drive then to my xt.but the xt doesn't seem to pick anything up
.xt is connected to my phone.
May be I have to scrap it all and plan the route on calimoto on the pc .instead of my phone

Re: Garmin drive app to Garmin xt unit
It is important that it be saved as a .gpx file as @jfheath said.

Whatever you think that you did, the Garmin Drive App has sent a file called:Willis7864 wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 9:11 pm Hi all .I planned the route on calimoto app on an android phone.saved it to my rides.then sent it to Garmin drive then to my xt.but the xt doesn't seem to pick anything up

As can be seen from the screen shot. It has two full stops / periods int he file name. And no GPX. Even if the file is on the XT (and I am sure it is), the XT Trip app is not going to be able to find it to import it.
Get the filename issue sorted out first. Do NOT use full stops / periods / . in your file nameWillis7864 wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 9:11 pm May be I have to scrap it all and plan the route on calimoto on the pc .instead of my phone
unless you are separating the first part of the file name from the gpx part. As in:
First_part_of_filename.gpx
I suspect (but do not know) that Calimoto will add the .gpx to whatever filename you use - so you might not need to add the .gpx
You seem to be in the habit of adding a ful stop / period to the start of your sentences ? But if you put periods in a file name (except the one in front of gpx) that really messes it up for any device trying to find the file.
EXPERIMENT
Do the same thing again twice.
First time, call the file : File1.gpx
Second time, call the file : File2 - see which one is picked up by the Zumo XT.

Well done for sorting it out.Willis7864 wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 6:36 pm Hi all managed to do it.domt ask me how.but playing around with my phone I had to send it to my documents and then send it to Garmin drive
I wonder - I have just been taking a look at Calimoto (and Kurviger) to see how they compare to other route planning software. I've signed up for the trial period - but its not much of a trial. You have to pay money before you can take a look at the GPX files that it produces. That isn't going to happen. It LOOKS as though it has one type of route point - it calls them Vias. But I cannot establish whether it sends these as via points, shaping points, waypoint setas Vias or whether it sends them at all. It doesn't tell me whether I am creating a route for the Zumo or a track.
I have my own theory that if someone doesn't give you enough detail to make an informed decision, then they are probably fudging it. Works well with car sales people.
I am left underwhelmed - but there may be more to it than its trial verison is revealing.
I'm wondering if you have a gpx file created by Calimoto that you would be prepared to post (or PM) for me to take a look at please.

Re: Garmin drive app to Garmin xt unit
About Calimoto.
I did some experimenting when it was still posible to download the GPX, without having to pay. As soon as I found that they require that, I stopped using them.
As for the routes. I found some very nice there, contributed by other riders. But they tend to put the route points (Shape & Via's) ON the junction, and not AFTER. Causing all sort of problems with directions. For example when entering a RoundAbout and you have to take the 2nd Exit. it would tell you to take the 1st, followed by a U-Turn, and again the 1st exit.
