Hi, I'm glad I stumbled upon this forum. I've been reading the various articles posted here for almost three months now, and I can say that there's a lot of very useful information.
My XT2, purchased in December 2024, worked fine until the 6.10 update. From then on, it was a disaster: untimely restarts that made driving very dangerous, no more personalized POIs—in short, all the problems mentioned on this forum.
After discovering this support forum, a simple solution solved everything: downgrading to software version 5.40. Thanks to the forum.
I'm back from a 5000 km road trip, crossing 13 countries (Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Italy, Switzerland, and France), and with this return to software 5.40, everything went very smoothly, with no reboots and custom POIs well supported.
Thanks everyone for sharing.

Glad that the downgrade fixed the issue.

Garmin inform me that they are working on a solution. But they have told me that sort of thing before. I am not holding my breath.

I'm curious though. In France they had a law that you could not have a satnav which warned you of speed cameras, and some friends have told me that they have been checked by the police to ensure that it is turned off.

Have they recently introduced laws which say that just turning off is not good enough - the feature must not be there at all ?

That is the only reason that I can think of that Garmin may have turned off POIs - because the speed carmera warnings have gone as well.

Garmin don't provide speed camera data for France as it's illegal to use it, that of course doesn't stop folks adding 3rd party speed camera information.

Thanks @sussamb - I can put that theory into the bin then ! If that isn't the case then hopefully Garmin will fix what stopped working in v6.10 fairly quickly.

Hello,

For your information, your forum appears entirely in French to me. I don't have to translate anything. That's why I naturally write in French. Depending on the device I'm using, I'll provide the English translation translated by Google.

For my personalized POIs, who mentioned speed cameras, not me ?

A POI can be campsites, mountain passes, favorite places, etc., in short, it can be anything.

Regarding speed cameras in France, I'll correct what sussamb said: yes, we're not allowed to have specific points, but we are allowed to have zones (the extent of the zone is related to the speed).
In Belgium, because I live right on the border, specific points are allowed; in Switzerland, everything is prohibited. In short, each country has its own rules or laws.

Garmin Cyclops handles this very well between different countries, I've never had to change anything, never seen any checks, just heard about them, but when you see some suicide bombers when they get arrested, the search must be thorough.

Bonjour,

I did not know that. Is the translation something that your computer / phone / tablet does ? I don't think that it is the forum that translates it.
When you type in French, all we see is French

I mentioned speed cameras because they are also POIs.

Version 6.10 stopped POI's from working and it also stopped speed camera alerts I was wondering whether Garmin had intended to block speed cameras due to the laws in different countries - and had accidentally stopped all POIs ?

Thank you, that is useful information. And thanks for providing the English translation

@benoce

Yes, I'm aware Garmin provides information on 'danger zones' for France, but these aren't POIs and may or may not be speed camera related.
