New firmware 6.70 for Zumo XT

Post by Rofor »

Hi guys,

Be a bit surprised, that nobody mentioned here until today, but there is a new firmware 6.70 for the (old) Zumo XT online - at least here in Europe...

Nothing really interesting, just added support for the Garmin R1 backwards radar unit, which is about EUR 600,- or 520,- pounds.
But, as we all know, there are good chances that also some internal 'things' have been changed at the firmware without telling the user. Wouldn't be the first time in the Zumo XT history...

No really good or bad reactions in the german-speaking forums until today, so i can't tell if its safe to update - i personally will wait a few more time until i will update my Zumo XT!
Bye, Robert :)

Updated mine yesterday before a ride into familiar territory. The XT worked as usual, no surprises.

Updated mine yesterday and today have noticed that when I send a gpx file to it via the drive app it doesn’t arrive. The app says it’s been sent but the XT gets no pop up saying it’s there and nor is it in the trip manager.

Appreciate with garmin it could be anyone of their buggy software causing the issue but only noticed it after updating the XT

6.60 works for me and I will never have an R1, so I don't see a reason to update.

Just did a small test with V6.70 and it works fine. If you have an Android, try to 'Force Stop' and 'Clear the Cache' in the Apps settings. Or just remove and reinstall the App

Didn't see the reason either, but it was updated via WIFI before I had a chance to block it.

That lack of update control is the reason my XT wi-fi is disabled. As far as I can tell, the XT only uses wi-fi for automatic updates, which I would hate to see happen before a major trip. I don't want a firmware change to change the routing algorithm, or a map update to cause a route recalculation. I would rather make my updates via USB, on my own schedule.

Similar with the XT2

But, the Cyclops updates can only be uploaded using Express

I just did a test with my iPhone. It worked, but I had to forget/reconnect my phone to the XT before the Drive app would see it.
