Garmin 1370T map updates
Garmin 1370T map updates
I have the Garmin 1370T, I use to have free lifetime map updates but Garmin support in UK have told me no longer have them because this unit is discontinued, obviously not very happy about this, i only require the UK maps. Can anyone help if possible to download elsewhere ?

Re: Garmin 1370T map updates
Welcome @ALLAN57
I have experimented with Open Source Maps in the past. These are/were generally free - although the source that I used to use went bust a long time ago. I quite like them, but they do not contain any road speed limit information, so the prediction about what time you will arrive at your destination or intermediate stops is a long way out.
I have a very old copy of the UK OSM maps here - downloaded a few years ago. It is an .img file (gmapsupp.img) which usually goes on the SD card in the \Map folder. The satnav should be able to locate it - but you need to disable any other maps that you have for the UK.
All of that being said, I do not have any experience with the 1370T - some early versions of Garmin satnavs were laced up with maps which required various combinations of unlock codes before they would work. (I seem to recall having to use 3 different ones for my Zumo 550). You'd need to try to find out whether or not the 1370T would accept them.
Someone on here may have a better answer. In the meantime, if you want the OSM gmapsupp.img file for the UK - you are welcome. It's about 850,000 KB long - so very nearly 1Gb. I cannot simply post it on here - and your email account must be capable of being able to receive such a large file.
OSM = Open Street Maps and their web site says that they are completely free for anyone to "fix, update, download and use" - so I am not infringing anyone's copyright. Most websites use the OSM data and package it up so that all you have to do is download and put it onto your satnav. For that service, many websites will charge a small fee. If you wish, send me a pm with an email address and I'll send it on.

Re: Garmin 1370T map updates
Many thanks for your help. I currently have 2025.10 map but there is 2026.10 update but Garmin have stopped my map updates due to my model now discontinued
Re: Garmin 1370T map updates
It's the fact that all the Garmin EU maps now use the NTU format and your device uses NT. Garmin definition of lifetime for maps is here https://www.garmin.com/en-US/legal/lmdisclaimer/ and that's why maps can no longer be supplied by them. Your device was discontinued over 10 years ago, so as already mentioned if you wish to continue using it then you can always use OSM maps, or indeed continue to use the Garmin maps you already have.ALLAN57 wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 10:32 am I have the Garmin 1370T, I use to have free lifetime map updates but Garmin support in UK have told me no longer have them because this unit is discontinued, obviously not very happy about this, i only require the UK maps. Re: Garmin 1370T map updates
OSM Map On Garmin/Download has general directions to use OSM maps on Garmin devices, with a long list of map sources below. You may want to try several, as there are differences in map themes (colors, map features, etc.) even though the data is the same.

Re: Garmin 1370T map updates
In the past, I have mentioned that the only drawback I found to using OSM maps on my XT was that it did not display the current speed limit on the map. While looking over the FAQ page at openmapchest.org (my usual OSM source), I found this comparison:jfheath wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 11:19 am ...I have experimented with Open Source Maps in the past. I've not really tested the accuracy of the speed limit data in an OSM map (I seldom care about precise times), but the data must be there since Basecamp does calculate the duration of a trip and time between route points. I have noticed that in order to meet the times calculated by BC with CN maps I need to travel a few mph over the limit, and the times calculated using OSM maps tend to be about 10-15% longer. How do these maps compare to the official maps from Garmin?
The maps on this site use the older Garmin format, the so called legacy or non-NT format. The maps work well and are very usable, but some features that were added to the newer NT format are not available, notably:
- No displayed speed limits: Speed limits are not displayed on screen while driving, however, speed limits are used for calculating the best route.
- No Junction View (JCV): These maps do not include Junction View images which means images of major highways, exits, and merge lanes do not appear while driving.
- No Lane Assist: These maps do not include Lane Assist which means icons of the lanes and which lane to use does not appear in the upper left corner when approaching a turn.
- Larger maps: The non-NT map format is less efficient than the newer NT format which means these maps are larger than Garmin's official maps.

Re: Garmin 1370T map updates
I've never seen a 1370 model, and the Garmin site does not recognize it, but this is what I would try, at least for a first attempt.ALLAN57 wrote: Tue Aug 19, 2025 2:42 pm Sorry, should of said, how to I do updates on my Garmin 1360T.

- Download great-britain_gmapsupp.img
- Install the map on a SDcard for the Nuvi, using the instructions at https://www.userbeam.de/usage/
- On the Nuvi, go to Tools>Settings>Map>Map Info to remove the check mark from any Garmin NT map and place a check by the OSM map, which may have a different name. Two active routable maps for the same area will cause problems

Re: Garmin 1370T map updates
Hello everyone,
I just came across this thread because I also own a Garmin 1370T, and I’m a bit confused about the map updates.
I had understood that this model came with “lifetime” updates, but recently Garmin told me that this is no longer possible. Has anyone else received a similar message?
Has anyone found a solution?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
