Hey all, New guy here joined to see if anyone can help me here.
Had a Zumo XT for a while now and have been using it with some old sennheiser cx sport bluetooth headphones, paired to the zumo xt and playing back music stored on the internal sd card with navigation coming through no issues, pausing the music for each alert then starting again afterwards.
Decided I wanted to treat myself to new headphones so picked up a pair of Sennheiser Momentum True wireless 4, they sound excellent and paired no issue however now when I am listening to music on the Zumo xt and an alert of any kind comes through it stops the music, plays the alert and the music doesnt restart. At first I thought it was just still paused but experimenting off the bike with it I can see that straight after the alert its disconnecting the headphones, then takes about 30 seconds and reconnects again. you can then unpause the music manually.
I have tried resetting the unit, forgetting all bluetooth connections and re pairing, making sure the headphones are only connected to the xt and nothing else, making sure both are on latest firmware, setting the bluetooth resolution on the headphones to all 4 different posibilities but it still has the issue.
I have gone back to the old headphones and they dont have this issue so I'm wondering if they are simply incompatible maybe?
Apologies for the long rambling but hoping ive missed something daft someone can suggest trying?

Re: Zumo XT and Sennheiser Momentum True wireless 4 issues
Welcome to the forum @damaged
The music stopping is normal behaviour for navigation instructions coming theough headphones - wired or BT.
It doesn't just fade the music - it actually stops.
Normally, though it picks up from where it stopped - not necessarily immediately, but shortly after tha nav instruction has finished.
I've used cheap BT headset/mic - those that form a loop under you chin and contain a tiny in-line unit with a mic in and a tiny in-line unit with the BT light , power on/off. They resume music OK.
Also a Cardo Edge BT headset - paired to the XT1 and XT2 - they resume music OK.
Also a wired Autocom unit - used with the 590, 595 and XT1 and they have all resumed music after nav instructions.
I've not come across your particular issue. Maybe others have encountered it. I know what Garmin would say in such a situation - they would more than likely say it has to be the headset.
Many modern headsets have the facility to pair as different types of device - each behaving slightly differently. I pair my headset to treat the XT as if it is a phone - because phone calls are routed through my XT2. Maybe there are settings in your unit that allow you to select different modes of operating ?

Re: Zumo XT and Sennheiser Momentum True wireless 4 issues
Yeah the stopping part is normal on my other headphones, just this wierd disconection issue with this particular pair, if I go to the bluetooth connection page you can see that the headphones have disconnected after the nav alert, then take about 30 seconds to reconnect, you can then manually unpause the music. Have raised it with Garmin and they say its likely an incompatibility issue with the headphones, frustrating but doesnt look like there is much more I can do.
Nothing I can see as far as differnt ways to pair, I can choose the bluetooth connection protocol (hi res/ lossless / standard / low latency) but it performs the same on all of them

Re: Zumo XT and Sennheiser Momentum True wireless 4 issues
Bluetooth was never truly a "standard," meaning each manufacturer can add or subtract or change functions that their device can support and still call it Bluetooth X.0 (whatever version). There is no BT enforcer requiring them to adhere to standards and as long as the thing pairs and sort of works, job done, the manufacturers seem to believe. I fear you are the latest victim.
The only desperation move I can think of is to change the order in which you power up the devices. I found this to help with a previous BT problem.

music off sd card stops and doesn't restart after alert or directions? yep i have exactly the same issues with my xt and both my sena intercoms. sometimes it also sounds like a real low bit rate stream or at half speed too
sena tech rep tested it and said the issue was with the garmin xt but guess what Garmin blame my phone or intercom? one of my intercomms is of a 5 year old design still in production so i dont think modern compatibility is a get out of jail free card

Yeah I think it's just a mix of Bluetooth weirdness and how the garmin operates, all very strange. Have had the low bit rate effect a couple of times on my old headphones and disconnecting and reconnecting on the garmin seems to fix it
Re: Zumo XT and Sennheiser Momentum True wireless 4 issues
yes but rebooting constantly is a pain and that's what i keep needing to do and a bit of a dangerous distraction mid ride! i noted that the Garmin will still show the mp3 track playing but the handover and back kills the audio output oddly? pause and play can get it going again sometimes if its silent or playing at half speed but if it go's low quality/bit rate it needs a reboot?damaged wrote: Wed Aug 06, 2025 12:20 pm Yeah I think it's just a mix of Bluetooth weirdness and how the Garmin operates, all very strange. another odd symptom is if I leave the track playing with no audio coming out the headset and that track plays out and it gets to the next one that track plays fine! seems like a data received loop back protocol.
the garmin xt is plauged with BT issues or both the ones I have had to endure - Gramin are happy to sell them new still while thay have stock but essentially development and support stopped a very long time ago it seams
