If you have very short segments in your track logs, then that is one of the symptoms of RUT behaviour. When you were following the route that created the track logs - every time it has to recalculate because you have not followed instructions, it creates a break in the track log. I am guessing that may be the issue.JS_racer wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 2:36 pm some was off the route sites, restarting the route, and other things, i was winging it back home about 500 miles away... some segments seemed like a super short distance 0.1 miles or something... followed some to a waterfall, 2 miles total, probably 10 segments just for that short trip.. also there was off route, it recalculated some, but i went where i wanted looking at the track.. so that probably didn't help.. definitely not my typical use... track displayed and route 99% or 100% perfect is much more normal for my use...
don't recall what the other days looked like, and I have deleted the history and toggled the setting off and back on..
There is nothing that you can do about that when out on a ride, but you can do things to prevent it from happening - if that is what it was.
1) Record a track manually using the Track app on the main screen. The recorded tracks do not have breaks - even when the automatically recorded tracks do. Dont forget to stop the recording when you are finished.
2) When you create a route, use one of the programs developed by @FrankB on this forum "SetTriptoSaved" or "TripManagager"
3) When you have created a route then load it into the XT, Say Go ! / select the start point / Start
Immediately go back to the main screen with the route running. Load Apps/Trip Planner again, click Saved Trips
Select 'My Active Route' and then Save. Give it a new name. I tend to use the old name with an @ in front of it.
Then click the route that you have just saved and say Go !'
Note that it now has a new start point - that is where you were when you saved the trip. (It is best do this when you are not far away fromt he start point of the route). Don't chosse that point, choose the point that is shown after Closest Entry Point. That is your original start point.
None of these routes will ever display RUT behaviour and you will not get the very short fragments in your route.
