Thank you again.

Indeed! Not only that but there are a lot of things for which there is no "best way". There's just the best way that works for you. The more curious you are the more you learn of your options. That leads to figuring out what works best for your riding style and your brain.jfheath wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:34 pm It is refreshing to have someone keen to learn and ask for help from the start. It reminds us of the very steep learning curve that is involved.

That can happen a lot. I often find that If I ask it again it gets a bit closer to completion. Then ask again etc. If they don't complete in the first attempt, they usually complete after three or 4 attempts. Not always though.Didos wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:32 pm Some hicups.... When transfering the track to route.. After 94%, I had a message from XT of cannot make route
..
I uploaded same route, different way points, and it worked.
All sorts of things could be going on here. I suspect that when you stopped for petrol, the XT was turned off, and it lost the route. In that case - or if things are not doing what you expect - stop the navigation (main screen - Stop), and then reload the Tip from the Tripplanner, select go, and then select Closest Entry point.Didos wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:32 pm As you said, I don't viated for petrol, I saw the magnet line, I went.. Continued for 10 min then XT lost direction on roundabouts.. Tried to rectify but no success.

I don't either. I create the route in Basecamp. I then tell Basecamp to create a track of that route. I transfer both to the XT. I import them on the XT. When I am ready to ride that route I show its track on the map and then load the route via Trip Planner. I will usually do the RUT fix at some point before the ride but that is a whole different conversation. I don't always do the RUT fix. I don't think it is worth the effort for a regional joyride where neither the destination nor the route are particularly important. Stopping then restarting the route is always an option. Worst case, I can stop the route and then tell the XT to get me home. FWIW, I don't use the Go Home function because if someone gets there hands on my XT, I don't want them to know where I live. Instead, I keep my home address as a Saved (Favourites) waypoint so will select it from that list when I need to create a route home.jfheath wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:44 pm Personally I do not use trips that have been created from Tracks. But I know that a lot of people do.
