Should I check this option if so why?
"Always match route to the map on my device when transferring"

Don't check it. From what I understand, it causes a recalculation by the XT. Garmin default is for this option to be checked.

It is important to make sure you are using the same map in Basecamp as the one on your XT.

Best to make sure that all of those check boxes in Device Transfer Options are unticked - at least until you know what they do. Also, if you have more than one GPS listed, either make sure that you have the correct device selected, or tell it to apply the settings to all devices.

There is nothing wrong with checking the maps are the same each time, but it then takes a long time to transfer / import files, and there is no need to do it.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
