Has anyone got their 396 and Mapsource to talk to each other.
I know you can go via Basecamp, but if I can avoid that extra step .........

Yes, you can make the 396 work with Mapsource. You need to change it from MTP mode to Mass Storage mode. Just do an internet search for Garmin MTP mode and you will find plenty of instructions on how to change modes
