There's four of us with Packtalks, we all find the radio will switch on what ever you say to it.
We've found the best thing to do is switch off VOX!
I agree with the comments about range, but it's not been a regular problem if you're riding as a group.
As for volume levels, I mute Sat Nav instructions, the over long road names you see in France that include liberation dates, and various military names are too much too often, are not really helpful for navigation, and blank out any bike to bike coms that's going on.
So much easier to follow the pictures.

Yes, me too, I've taken to not connecting the zumo to the PT.

Used them in France last week, and they were excellent.
When back in range, they connected back up immediately. Have to say, that's the best laugh I've had on a motorcycle for years, the Packtalks made it a hoot.
