How do we get people over here?

Post by alan sh »

As the title says. With the old forum down, how do we get this site utilised?

Ideas welcomed.

Would there be any hope of a response if someone were to contact arkiebiker direct?

I'll post to a couple of my MC groups. I know a bunch of them used the old site in the past.

It will be hard to get people over from the old forum now so we will have to concentrate on getting new users and keeping them!

The way to do that is by posting relevant information that would get indexed in search engines and to make the place look active too

There is nothing worse than finding a forum with no activity although there is already a wealth of knowledge in the members already we need to get that on to the forum.

Is the old site now closed? Thought there was a month or so left for it to run. Perhaps anyone who can contact arkiebiker to find out what's happening and to see if he could put a link to here?

Logging on just shows Maintenance Mode. I'll see if I can put a message to him Via his blog contact details (google arkiebiker) but I won't hold my breath for a reply :(

I've just posted a link on FB page "UK Bikers Touring in Europe". It's a very busy FB page with loads of GPS users. Hopefully it may encourage a few to have a look. :)
Cheers, Pete.

Hello Everyone, just did a little research on Facebook for the old zumoforums dot com and it seems that Wally Jarratt is the owner of the old forum, it looks like he had asked Garmin about a new GPS unit back in 2012. I have not contacted him but maybe someone on Facebook could contact Wally and ask to see if he can provide someone here, maybe STU access to retrieve data that was on the old site? It seems like Wally has everything on his page set for privacy, but the message button still exists, he may not respond but then again he may respond you never know.

If data can not be retrieved maybe he could include a statement in the maintenance section, a link to this website, just a thought. The old zumoforums dot com website is registered through 02-15-2019.
