I (and a few others) have had a similar issue with the 590/595 - there's a thread on this.

Thanks for the comment. My 595 didn't go quiet on me, just no battery.

I have returned that, and upscaled even further to a BMW Nav 6. I am in the waiting time before the new bike arrives, so when it does I will be buying the Nav 6. I hope it is better than the last Garmin devices.
