Re: Please remind me how to do optional POI
The route point rename issue has never been one for me. I have almost always created my routes by first dropping waypoints where I want to go. Can I ask what you mean by ''dropping a waypoint' ? I create and name a few Waypoints when planning a ride. They are saved and appear in BC's lower left win...

Re: How to display custom POIs on the map
Useful information Sean OZ - but I think that you are talking about Waypoints. The Explore /Tread database does not cater for Custom POIs - unless Garmin have changed their terminology for the XT2 software. For Garmin, a POI is not the same as a Waypoint. I did wonder when I read the OP's original p...

Re: Please remind me how to do optional POI
You just have to remember that the XT will probably change the name of your Route points. To prevent this I have started to create waypoints in BC for the points that I intend to be Vias. The XT doesn't alter them. I might have said that in the video - cant remember, and I don't like listening to my...

Re: Good Morning from Dorset, UK
Welcome Coddiwompler You are well prepared for the XT haveing used the 396. The basics are similar but there are some changes in behaviour. Here is a document that relates to the 590 and 595 - and is more in keeping with the 396 regarding the use of Basecamp. https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/viewtop...

Re: XT - Tracks - Maximum number of points
Thank you, that is useful. I am just reading your very detailed and useful guide on the XT and BaseCamp. In BaseCamp,to reduce the number of points in a Track already created, I have used Filter and then set the maximum number of points. If creating a Track from a Route I have made, is there a way ...

Re: XT - Tracks - Maximum number of points
Yes - according to Garmin, the maximum is 10,000 points per track for the XT. See previous question and answers here. https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1945 I've just tried an experiment - Lands end to John O'groats - The Bottom SW corner to the top NE corner of UK mainland. Converted...

Re: Basecamp and via points/shaping points
I think @FrankB's investigation int subclasses may find this useful - unless subclasses are only set after import. Thanks for the pointer John. Running out of time lately, so dont think I will investigate much! Just a few questions: - Does this also apply to the XT. (The topic is in the XT2 section...

Re: Basecamp and via points/shaping points
Yet another reason to store routes on the SD card and not in internal memory ;) . Points can be changed in a route stored on my device's SD card while it is still inserted in my XT. Ditto routes. Apparently. I avoided using the SD card until very recently - so I wasn't aware of this. Thanks. With t...

Re: Basecamp and via points/shaping points
In Basecamp, the only way to tell whether a point is a shaping point or a via point is in that dialog box that lkraus has shown. Via points are in black lettering. The points alert on arrival. Shaping points are in a lighter, grey lettering, These say (won't alert..) The symbol used does not mean an...
