Re: Annual big trip first with Garmin XT - Findings

Helps to "remove" reflections too for visibility by playing with the mounting angle. I found on my bike (1200RT) to be 90 degrees to the ground works best with no reflections or sun "flare", making the screen fully readable under all conditions.

Re: temporary setup

I'm kind of lost here. I get you don't want the permanent power connection fitted to your bike, but unless you use the factory mount, how exactly are you going to affix the XT to your bike? Regarding the power cable, you could always splice the XT end of the genuine power cable to a USB lead, so you...

Yup, just mount it without a power cable. Make sure you charge the device before you set off. The XT should be good for 2 to 3 hours on a charge, maybe more, especially on lowered screen brightness.

Or sell your bike and buy a car ;)

Don't know about Basecamp on Mac, but it definitely plays nice with my iPhone 11.

Kid me not... I did the same checks with my pins without any issues.

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness

Has anybody tried a dab of silicone dielectric grease on the pins and contacts. I wonder if it would help relieve any stresses and friction of the pins sliding in the bores and/or the pins sliding on the Zumo XT contacts? I may give this a try. It certainly can't hurt as a preventative measure. Che...

Re: How to share locations and routes to Garmin Drive (iOS)??

No clue why this is happening to you, but I can tell you that MyRouteApp shares fine on my phone (iPhone 11) to Garmin Drive. Apart of this (Drive) app from Garmin, I also have Smart Link and Garmin Explore installed, if that makes a difference.

Re: Audio warning issue

Yaaaayyyy After 3 months of dealing with the issue, Garmin released a new software update that has the option to disable the warning. It's under Settings->Driver Assistance-> Reduced Speed Tone. Untick the box. Will test tomorrow. :D

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness

I had the 595 for 5 years or so (many more pins like these) without issues. To be honest, this is the first time I heard anyone having a problem with them, other than not connecting up to the unit. I am reading a number of motorcycle forums... I don't think it's a very common issue, but I am a toure...

Re: Audio warning issue

I thought the problem wasn't with that, but with the warnings that come up before you get to a change in speed limit, telling you the speed limit is about to change (which Garmin calls "Speed limit reduction" alerts). AFAIK you'd get them regardless of what speed you're doing at the time,...
