Re: Question about exporting from BaseCamp

Export vs. drag-and-drop... Export works at the list level, exporting everything in the active list, however it allows you to create your own filename and control where the file is written Drag-and-drop works at the route level. You can not control filename or location. The routes are written as se...

Re: Supported?

Perhaps if you describe how you "tried an update".

Re: Question about exporting from BaseCamp

My first question is why are you exporting to C: then copying to an SD card? I leave the card in the XT and drag-and-drop the route directly to it in Base Camp. It shows as User Data. To your questions- I have not seen as you describe. I often export selection for file sharing via DropBox. As long a...

Turning off the gps is an option. As is not being a hooligan. :D

Re: Problem with satellite tracking?

They did do better....... with previous models! The 595 was better. The nuvi780 was fabulous!! But looking backwards those models had less apps and fewer maps. I still say, "the more something does, the less it does well." I firmly believe this applies to the XT.

Re: Problem with satellite tracking?

This used to bug me too until I realized the XT doesn't necessarily calculate distance to turns. It often calculates distance to the next point in your route. You may have 3 turns until your next shaping or via point but you'd not know it. I work around it by placing shaping points about 500 yds AFT...

Re: windows 11

I'm new to this forum, but I can offer some insight on your question about Windows 11. From what I understand, Windows 11 has some compatibility issues with older software, so there's a chance that your XT and Basecamp might not work on a Windows 11 laptop. However, it's worth checking with the sof...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

I'm not surprised by that behaviour. Apart from the various ways in which the route may have been altered by Basecamp (by loading into a profile with different preferences, by having different maps, etc); on transfer to the XT (eg different Basecamp Settings, different maps); by the XT on loading o...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

Got it -- thanks very much. The trend in the northeast is to create "jug handle turns" -- you sort of exit right and it loops around left and puts you perpendicular to the original road, often at a light, then you turn left. -dan I grew up in northwest NJ- we had jughandles at least as fa...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

Yup! Having occasional via points in the route helps with this and with providing points that you can select to navigate to. @jfheath and others, what do you know about the stripping of shaping points by a recalc? As you know, I have been averse to shaping points but am evolving, so I have a lot of...
