Re: Cannot Calculate Route

Dan, Thank you very much for your feedback. I really appreciate the help. If you are willing to look at the route in question then I have attached it, but before you spend too much time on it let me add that I have seen this "cannot calculate route" enough times before. I have seen it so ...

Re: The peculiar case of the disappearing tracks. XT & 595

I should have mentioned that I try to avoid connecting my XT to my iMac for two reasons. The USB port on the XT is vulnerable to forces created by insertion and resting the unit on its back while working, and because it's a Mac I have to fuss a bit with Android File transfer. It's easier (for me) to...

Re: The peculiar case of the disappearing tracks. XT & 595

"But it also happen if you use Basecamp to create a GPX file with your routes, tracks and favourites (saved)." I have never had good luck with creating a single GPX file that contains more than one route or a combo of routes, tracks and favorites. It seems to create more chances for things...

Re: Cannot Calculate Route

Without seeing the route, this is only a guess, but I have to believe that the large number of shaping points is choking the XT. I have never had to use that many shaping points to force route integrity, and I've done a lot of long-distance riding with various Garmins and now the XT. I would be temp...

Re: setting route preferences inside each planned trip

He verified that some of the high end Garmins did in fact compare your customary driving speed to what the road was classified for (not necessarily the posted limit) and would use that "learned" information to calculate ETA. Seems like this could be sold as a feature rather than leaving e...

Re: setting route preferences inside each planned trip

@jfheath, you mentioned the XT may learn something from the way it is used. Can you expand? It doesn't seem that smart to me. Not really, I'm afraid. Not the way it is used, but the roads that you ride. I have read that it does it. I have observed that if I travel at 50mph on a 60mph road, it will ...

Re: Garmin zumo XT is there a chance?

Before calling Garmin , try charging with a power source of 2 amps for a couple of hours. It's somewhat unlikely that getting wet would kill it, but if by chance it was put away sleeping instead of fully powered off, or if it was low on battery when put away properly, it may just need a good charge....

Re: Google maps trip to Zumo XT

Malcolm,

Note that the title of this thread, which is in the zumo XT section, is "Google maps trip to Zumo XT." Your 660 does not have apps; the XT does.

Much as I loved my 660 and got many thousands of miles of use out of it, your description is perfect. When my 660 refused, despite trying every trick known to GPS nerds, to update its map last year, I went XT shopping and am glad I did.

Re: Big trip want to test routes

Having used a 660 for many thousands of miles of pre-planned rides and an XT for a few thousand so far, I don't have a perfect answer, but some thoughts... Obviously you need the same map version on both units and in BC (assume you knew this already). But methods to test differ. On the 660 I'd hit G...
