Re: Basecamp a bit clunky
Basecamp isn't ideal, but neither is Google maps. When zoomed in, position of roads can vary quite a lot from each other. So I stick with Basecamp and use StreetView and satellite images to check on precise locations, eg for hotels and stop- over points. I find both maps useless for showing much abo...

Re: CN EU 2020.30 NTU
Hmmm. Maybe something else was going on. I'll give it another go at some point - without deleting my present maps this time !

Re: CN EU 2020.30 NTU
They released 2020.30 a little while back. I installed it on both Basecamp and Zumo. And since I was being ultra tidy on that day (not to mention being stupid), I deleted all of my other maps. What happened was that when any route was transferred from Basecamp to the Zumo, the Zumo would start a ver...

Re: Removing residue from old trips
Interesting observation the other day investigating my Zumo 590 plus 5. The 4.6.0 software does not create a temp.gpx in the GPX folder (as far as I can tell) Instead, when routes are transferred to the Zumo, it puts them in separate file in the Garmin/GPX folder and names them as Route.gpx, Route0....

Re: Zumo 590 plus 5 - Naming Route Points
OK - here's the answer so far. You can rename any route point in Basecamp. The names are sent to the Zumo 590 and 595, but they are often ignored. The new names are accepted in the Zumo IF: ** the route point was a Waypoint created in BC with the flag tool ** the route paint was dragged in using the...

Zumo 590 plus 5 - Naming Route Points
I'm still investigating the v4.6.0 (595) software installed on my Zumo 590. At present, I think this is a 595 issue. Creating a route in Basecamp. All route points have been created in Basecamp 4.7.1 The route has a couple of Waypoints. ie Points that I have created with the Waypoint (Flag) tool. Mo...

Re: The invisible unit
I know you aren't. I am just clutching at straws really. The chap in the link was having a similar problem. The only other thing I can think of is that the 595 starts in MTP mode (it doesn't show drive letters). The Zumo 660 starts in Mass storage mode - has a drive letter for internal storage. I wo...

Re: The invisible unit
Sorry - I forgot that this unit was brand new. The cable should be working if it is new. Just found this post here - similar problem Turned out that the USB port wasn't providing enough power to the Zumo and plugging it into a powered USB port solved the issue. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook...

Re: The invisible unit
There are cables that will charge the device. There are cables that will transfer data There are cables that will do both. Maybe the cable that came with the unit was for charging only ? Although the one that came with my 590 does both. Its a little short for my liking so I bought a 'charge and sync...

Re: Zumo 595 Portrait Display
Is the delay to do with the Zumo recognising that it is in USB mode, or the time take to connect once it is in USB mode - that from sleep mode 18 seconds from completely off to golden computer image. I sometimes get a white image - but not this time. I don't know the white image means . I assumed th...
