Re: XT coming next week
So I went to the navigating screen, selected the speed tb to open up the trip info status, and pressed on the speed area for about 10 seconds to bring up the developer etc screens. I found under the PRSC (Power Source?) it gave loads of info, which has been mentioned in previous posts, but see that...

Re: XT coming next week
I've not used my XT for a while so just put it on charge, with a wall mounted charger that shows the amps being supplied, and it was taking over two, but the screen was still flickering a bit. So I went to the navigating screen, selected the speed tb to open up the trip info status, and pressed on t...

Re: I am venting about a dead XT, again.
In the hidden system menu, there is a facility for monitoring the power input and battery status in real time. I cant get to my XT to tell you exactly where it is or what the values should be, but I can post this later. The hidden system menu ? Main screen, view map. Tap the speed button, bottom le...

Re: The peculiar case of the disappearing tracks. XT & 595
I always put routes into the SD card as that way if after importing and messing around with it, I don't like the result, I can delete it and re-import the original route.
Not yet found how to send favorites to the SD card instead of the XT / 59x though.

Re: Which GPS To Buy Now
Gee whiz, there is lots of stuff here I did not know. Thanks for all the responses. One rule of thumb I'd say is that the newer the unit, the better the screen and how many functions it tries to do and how configurable it is. How many it succeeds at is the problematic area, the biggest one being ho...

Re: Which GPS To Buy Now
Bottom line, 590 or 396. I have a XT, 396 and 595 One issue with the 396 is that like the XT is the "fastest" routing option means faster roads, but it does use imported routes correctly. The 396 does have a much brighter screen than the 590 /595. The 396 is almost a halfway house between...

Re: Which GPS To Buy Now
A second-hand Zumo 590 or 595 would probably work for you as it still has the possibility of wired audio along with BT. They're an evolution and shouldn't take much extra learning. I don't know if they work with Mapsource, so that might be a negative, I suspect they don't as when I got one I had to ...

Re: Latest XT2/Tread software version
A USB charger like this is useful to see what power is being supplied by it, especially to see what a Garmin GPS is doing:
