Re: Can coordinates be used to add a waypoint?
Little late to the party here, but I'll add that I have to use coordinates when routing on OSM maps. As some may know OSM maps don't have much of an address database for searching.

Re: Upate questions Z550 & Z595
The single file size limit of Fat32 is still 4GB. Garmin North American maps are still less than 4GB size, their European maps are split into multiple files as a single map would be over the 4GB limit. Unlike the newer XT that allows you to have multiple maps in the unit and allow you to select whic...

Re: Upate questions Z550 & Z595
Bill, in regards to the SD card, Garmin says 4Gb is the limit, however many here have used card larger. 8Gb and 16Gb are quite common and I personally use a 32Gb in mine. It will hold all my maps in their entirety as well as a large selection of Music(should I need it).

Re: Dusted off the 550.
Also note that with the newer maps, the street labeling changes, they aren't showing the entire street name anymore on the map. It will appear on the top ID bar, just not on the map. If you haven't already been a 'lifetime map' subscriber, can you even sign up now for new maps from Garmin? If Garmin...

Re: how to use Garmin Tread on a PC
I don't have an XT2, but from what I am hearing about Garmin saying the "XT2 not compatible with basecamp" almost sounds like when Garmin said that the old 550 was not compatible with SD cards larger than 4Gb.... most all know that was not the case.

Re: Road Names Missing Letters
Garmin sure has it by the tail.. they say the device is obsolete so no phone tech support, you can still download recent maps(if you have the subscription), but yet you can't download an older version that you had previously downloaded..... You will most likely have to go the route of OSM maps. In m...

Re: what software to use to create GPX files
I've used Basecamp to create/export GPX routes for loading/importing to my Harley boombox nav system.
They have loaded and routed ok, so far.

Re: Map update
If I'm not mistaken, don't you have to put the Nav unit into MTP transfer mode, for the PC to see it.
+ what sussamb said, you have to have the correct map and unlock key for it to work.
You might be able to use OSM maps, I use them on my SP2810.

Re: Off-route message when you are not
I get my off route/recalc when the road locations are newer than the maps..... multiple times the map thought I was in the middle of a field that is now a road.

Re: Track to Trip Calculation Errors
Try removing your avoidance's and recalculate. I've been on the parkway this year and last year and there are sections that are closed with detours.
Not saying that's the answer, but something to try.
