Mine does not do that. When it is in the cradle and the bike is running the GPS is powered from the bike 100% of the time.

Is the power lead correctly installed in the GPS bracket? I know that there is a right way (as per the instructions from Garmin) and a wrong way to install that lead because I installed mine the wrong way to start with. The wrong way means the connectors on the two devices don't make proper contact.

Turn the volume on the headset down to zero when you don't want to hear spoken instructions.

Does anybody know what the capacity of the internal battery is? My XT battery seems to go flat after about 3-4 weeks of not being used with the GPS turned off which makes me think that the GPS probably does not actually turn off but rather goes into some sort of sleep mode.
