The Garmin XT sadly doesn't have mass storage mode (only MTP and something called USB ethernet, which I'm yet to find out what it is)

That will most likely has to be a XT-firmware update, possibly in combination with a fresh release of Garmin Express

yes it's gone. it's sacrificed for the new map buttons I guess.

as long as your 595 is listed in Express you can still install maps to your pc..

Expess displays up both my XT and my 590/595 on the home screen. Even with the XT plugged in to the USB socket, if I select my 595 icon on the home screen, I get the original options to install the maps to the computer. It suggests it has to be to do with the Express update rather than the v5.90 so...

hmm, looks like you can't opt for installing the maps on your pc for Basecamp since Garmin Express 7.4.0.0
