Re: Prevent Zumo XT from recording speed

Like others said, how would police know where this was done. Maybe you rode an autobahn or a racetrack? Once on an airplane I left it on and it recorded 180 mph on takeoff before losing reception :). I think the XT can tell you where the speed cameras are (with a phone app connection). I'm not sure ...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

I wish Garmin had just put the XT screen on the 595 and called it good. There're features in the previous versions which had to be moved to the XZ. I have an impression that the group who developed the new software just junked the old one without looking into it. But hey - latest is not always the ...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

Got it -- thanks very much. The trend in the northeast is to create "jug handle turns" -- you sort of exit right and it loops around left and puts you perpendicular to the original road, often at a light, then you turn left. -dan I grew up in northwest NJ- we had jughandles at least as fa...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

I don't experience points being removed. I see the route get changed between the remaining points. I place enough shaping points to not leaving Garmin a choice to recalculate between them. But if it does happens, follow the track until rejoin the route. Garmin will keep recalculating until agrees w...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

Gotcha but of course others may not, by skipping a via point they may wish to go direct to the next viapoint or the end of the route. If I skip a via point that's certainly what I want, I doubt if I'm alone. To do what you want somehow your device would first need to know you want to ride part of t...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

Just saying that if you want to continue on route just do so, and go through the viapoint as normal. Just because it's a viapoint doesn't mean you have to visit it, you can just pass through it, or am I missing something? Since the early nuvi models, the question of how much "tolerance" t...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

if you choose to skip a via point that means you no longer want to go there, so it doesn't make sense to just continue on route, if you want to do that why skip the viapoint? Because I don't need to visit that via point for a reason (changed my mind), yet I do want to continue on the rest of the ro...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

Adding more Shaping Points is the obvious answer, but it is not one that I like to use unless it is absolutely necessary. My reasons are. 1 The shaping point pin a route to a particular bit of tarmac. If the route calculates to use that road anyway, then historically (before XT) there is no need to...

Re: Weird Routing Behaviour (2)

When you click to Skip a via point, all it has to do is to continue navigating. Either to continue as nothing happened and the via point was never there, or, as you already had visited it. Simple as that. But instead, the software is thinking: "hmmm, he skips the via, it means that the route i...
