In Basecamp, every time I drag a route and drop it in an intersection or on a freeway ramp, a shaping point is added to the route. I used Express to upgrad to V7.17.3.0 today. The "run in background" box was unticked prior to, and is still unticked after. It does not run in the background when closed.

Using Base Camp, you can edit the routes that are on the XT. Make sure Garmin Express is NOT running, not even in the background. Open Base Camp, give it a minute.
