Re: setting route preferences inside each planned trip
He verified that some of the high end Garmins did in fact compare your customary driving speed to what the road was classified for (not necessarily the posted limit) and would use that "learned" information to calculate ETA. Seems like this could be sold as a feature rather than leaving e...

Re: setting route preferences inside each planned trip
@jfheath, you mentioned the XT may learn something from the way it is used. Can you expand? It doesn't seem that smart to me. Not really, I'm afraid. Not the way it is used, but the roads that you ride. I have read that it does it. I have observed that if I travel at 50mph on a 60mph road, it will ...

Re: Garmin zumo XT is there a chance?
Before calling Garmin , try charging with a power source of 2 amps for a couple of hours. It's somewhat unlikely that getting wet would kill it, but if by chance it was put away sleeping instead of fully powered off, or if it was low on battery when put away properly, it may just need a good charge....

Re: Google maps trip to Zumo XT
Malcolm,
Note that the title of this thread, which is in the zumo XT section, is "Google maps trip to Zumo XT." Your 660 does not have apps; the XT does.

Re: Big trip want to test routes
Much as I loved my 660 and got many thousands of miles of use out of it, your description is perfect. When my 660 refused, despite trying every trick known to GPS nerds, to update its map last year, I went XT shopping and am glad I did.

Re: Big trip want to test routes
Having used a 660 for many thousands of miles of pre-planned rides and an XT for a few thousand so far, I don't have a perfect answer, but some thoughts... Obviously you need the same map version on both units and in BC (assume you knew this already). But methods to test differ. On the 660 I'd hit G...

Re: XT reset options?
The "clear all user data" is what is throwing me. I consider "user data" to be only what we, the "user" has added to the device and not what the device has generated on its own. Do I need to adjust my thinking to "user data" meaning all data added or produced...

Re: XT reset options?
On some older Garmin units, the option to clear all user data was the only way to delete a corrupted satellite almanac, which could prevent the GPS from getting lock. Doing this was a good way to prove that these units "learn" your driving habits (what speed you ride on what roads), becaus...

Re: CN NA 2024.20
I used wifi to update my XT then Garmin Express to install on computer. The last time I did it this way, GE didn't see the new map on the XT. The XT showed it, BaseCamp saw it, but GE didn't. I don't recall the steps required to fix it but I vividly recall that it was a mess. I just did the update ...

Re: New firmware 6.60 for Zumo XT
My two cents on long connect is an outlier, but in case it helps...
I'm on a Mac, so have to use Android File Transfer app to connect at all and it takes its damn time, to say the least. I have not seen any difference since installing the new firmware.
